What is a positive (in a way) is that everyone is so upset about our season.

Think about that. I don't recall anyone being this upset in any of Campo's 5-11 seasons. Why? Cuz we knew the potential wasn't there.

Now? We know we have a much better team. We KNOW we are greatly improved. So much that we're EXPECTING greatness already (eventhough, realistically, the team is young and simply wasn't ready or quite good enough to make it happen this year).

I'm not saying we should be happy with 9-7. Just pointing out that we, as fans, are at a point (again) where we know we have a good team and our expectations are up again. And that goes for the players too. Can you imagine how the team would of felt if they'd gone 9-7 under Campo? There'd be dancing in the streets cuz it WOULD have been a great accomplisment. But with this team, under Parcells, people (fans and players) are upset.

And that is a good thing (in a way).

I agree. Expectations are a funny thing. Sometimes those expectations get way out of hand. But nothing is more awful than having no expectations at all - just expecting to lose.

I agree with you. Anyway, besides campo's last draft, is there really anyone here from those teams. I mean this entire team has had to be re-tooled. Besides Bryant, not alot of guys who were here pre-Parcells who he cut have done anything. We had a bunch of guys on our roster who had no business playing in the NFL, like Larrimore, etc.

This team finally has a core of good players.

I thought that we would go 10-6, and had hte Rams game been meaningful, we probably would have.

Anyone who really thought SB at the beginning and throughout this year was obviously not looking at this season objectively. THe turnover in players from last year, the problems at O-Line, they dont usually equal success. Now our players will be more comfortable. The O-Line should be shored up....BP prtty much fixed the D in 1 year (though they could be more consistant, which I think will come)

Of course we expected to do well. Parcells the great has had 3 years of good draft picks and plenty of free agent cap dollars to work with (unlike his predecessors) and we still havent won jack.

Draft picks usually don't start making an impact till their 3rd year. So his draft picks have, for the most part, only had ONE year to make an impact. All those drafts BEFORE parcells got here are STILL hindering the team.

Superbowl teams aren't built in one year. They're built 3, 4, 5 years BEFORE they actually win a superbowl.

The team has GREATLY improved, and that is something to be happy about.

This "Superbowl or bust" attitude is f'in stupid.

Well let's see we've had 2 winning seasons and a playoff apperance, in the 3 years he's been here.

hwo many times did that happen in the 6 years before him

now we have lost a starting QB, RB, LB's, FS, OL, CB, all either right before the season, or during the season, and still in the three years BP has been here kept a winning record.

With as much crap that was on this team from the pre-parcells i am happy that we finally have a team in which we actaully can have expectations of that rise above winning more than 1 game.

Good stuff, Rack. Direction is something we sorely lacked before. When 9-7 is a disappointment, I believe you're going the right way. Here's to hoping we continue down that path.

Do you feel good about the direction of this team? Not just the young player(s) on defense, I mean the team as a whole?

I dont.

Three years into the Parcells era and we're still hitching our hope to two has been WR's and a never was QB. Not to even mention the offensive line needs to be completely overhauled. We're not a year away from putting together an offense that can make us a contender for years to come. If we're lucky (and we havent been) we might be able to some how sneak into the playoffs and get destroyed in the widcard game ala Carolina a couple years back.

Now... instead of moving ahead and getting busy on the fourth year of his campaign with NO RESULTS all we get is whether or not he still has it in him to return next season.

Its stupid man. Im just fed up with it. Fire his *** and lets move on to building a team for the long haul.

This team is light years ahead of the playoff team of '03. Back then we prayed, but now at least we compete.

Thats what kinda throws me off. He had this one great offseason in FA, but elected to stand pat after we went 10-6 the offseason before, not elect to improve the defense after Mario Edwards leaves, doesnt sign/draft a future replacement for Woody. Doesnt Bring in competition on the Oline/Dline.
We are a year behind from where we could be, based on his year of standing pat and making shortsighted signings like Eddie George/Murrell and Ryan Young (I might add Marco Rivera's arse to that list too).

We had a lot of youth in there for one reason or another.

Shanle was a 3rd year guy who had only started 3 games before this year.
Fowler was a 2nd year guy seeing his first real action.
Ware was a rookie.
Spears was a rookie.
Canty was a rookie.
Keith Davis was a first time starter.
Pile was a 2nd year guy who came in late.
Fujita's a vet but came in late in camp and was new to the scheme.
Pettiti was a rookie switched from the left to the right.
Tucker was playing his second year, switched from right to left tackle after playing guard in college.
Johnson caught some flak, but this was his second year on the field. It could be a sophomore jinx or he could be a bust.

That's a lot of youth and relative lack of experience. Including guys like Pettiti and Tucker by no means is an attempt to exonerate them, but the fact remains they're both young marginal players thrust into unfamiliar roles.

I was disappointed in the end, but overall I'm pretty satisfied considering the circumstances. We went from a team that regularly got its butt kicked to a team that was in almost every game. It's been awhile since we could say that.

I do. We arent getting our azzes handed to us every week. We have draft picks that will play a good role here for a long time. We dont have Jerry coaching the team any more.
We have a coach who understands what it takes to build the Cowboys back up and hes doing it. Why some dont understand that it cant be done in a short time I will never get. This team was trash when Parcells got here, it has become respectable and headed upwords.
I hope he stays to repair the rest of it.
ooooppppssss! :D

There is no question in my mind that the Dallas Cowboys 2005 Season was a disappointment, they should have made the playoffs and lost too many close games they should have won.

think of it like this

the talent sucked major arse Pre-Parcells

he had to re-tool that some his 1st year here, then BAM! the expectations shot through the roof, 10-6, league's #1 D, so Parcells decided to stand pat and just plug holes

that was a major disaster, so back Parcells went to square 1, spent money, and hauled in a bunch of fine talent

we basically started the whole rebuilding process over, before this year, so yeah, blame Parcells for screwing up royally 2004, and then let it go, it's 2006, but to say we're headed nowhere, when we increased our winning percentage from a year ago, that's just preposterous, from 6 wins to 9 is headed in an upward direction, I don't care what anyone says, and most of our talent is very young, and will continue to get better...

Wish we would have gotten those draft picks in the first. Does anyone else want to kick Jerry in the nards for giving two number 1s for Joey Galloway.
