I've seen alot of folks comparing Norv to Belichick in that they were failed HCs and went somewhere else and had great success. But BB has one key piece to his puzzle that Norv does not and it's Scott Pioli. I don't know if Pioli runs their draft or if BB does but either way they are excellent at it, if BB does run the draft for them then he has a GM that trusts him and lets him do it.

Norv has Jerry, and ya'll have seen his drafting expertise. The x-factor in all this is Ireland and I don't know how much Jerry will take his advice over doing what "feels right" to him. It's not Norv being the coach that concerns me the most, it's having someone who knows what their doing with the draft, and FA that concerns me most. Does anyone know how much input Norv had in the draft in Oak. and Wash. if he did were his picks good.

I don't think anyone with a working brain has made that comparison.

That's a little harsh, wait and see.

Bellicheck was a bust in Cleveland under poor management.

That's why you can't make this comparison. If Norval comes here and somehow the Cowboys are winning 12-13 games in a season, then start up with it.

I would put a whole lot on the notion that Norv doesn't touch Belichick's New England dynasty. I would put a whole lot on the notion that nobody in the next 50 years will touch Belichick's NE dynasty.

But it's wait and see. The situations are markedly different in so many ways.

I don't think Norv will touch Bellichick's dynasty record either because he already has stated he probably won't coach long term or for significant years. Don't forget the Garrett factor.

But Norv Turner is in a darned if you do and don't situation. If the team struggles it is because Turner historically sucks as head coach. If he wins it is because of all the great things Parcells has put into place.

Well spoken. I wanted Parcells gone and I will give Jerry's choice the benefit of a doubt regardless of his past (or lack of experience...or whatever). It is clear that Parcells leaves the Cowboys better than he found them. I hope I can say the same thing at the next head coaching change.

thats all well and good, except I highly doubt we'll be getting 1995 Jerry Jones when it comes to the draft...Jeff Ireland is here now

Interesting. So Parcells really wasn't successful with the Giants or Patriots, it was always Belichick. But NOW we find out, it isn't really Belichick, but the drafting of Scott Pioli. Come on.

Here is my theory on why Jerry is pursuing Norv as the head coach; because he is not able to pursue Norv the Offensive Coordinator!

Norv is under contract with San Fran and they are trying to raise him to keep him. Jerry most likely knew this would happen and that is why he did not name Garrett to a title at first. Jerry has hired the man he wants as head coach (Garrett), but due to the Turner issue, Jerry now wants him to get some "seasoning" for a year or so. After the season is over, Norv and Garrett will switch positions and Norv will become the highest paid offensive coordinator in the NFL.

Garrett would agree to this because he gets to be Head coach next year. Norv would agree to it, because if he is successful he can be a viable candidate for HC elsewhere or he can be a highly compensated offensive coordinator. Win-win for both Garrett and Norv. Win for Jerry, because he has found a way to circumvent the system and get what he wants.

I like the way you think!

Got one of those theories for the defense?

D-Coord is going to be hard this late in the game, but I wouldn't be surprised if "Coach Turner" doesn't try to pursue Singletary with the way they are stringing him out in San Fran. If not, I would suspect that they give Bowles a run.
