Watch Marinellis interview from yesterday. He says yeah you want to put Byron in a spot where he can settle, yet they don't. I get it he's prob also our best corner, but that shouldn't matter to me. Let him settle at FS and take your lumps at CB or put him at corner where he'll never end up and also take lumps at FS. It makes no sense whatsoever. Im a Marinelli supporter, but this ones got me scratching my head.

It's now out of necessity, they have no choice. Cutting Patmon forced this. But I get your point, it's like what they did with Crawford his first few years before finally settling at DT.

This season is a wash. Give him experience everywhere, analyze where he fits best so you know more going into next season.

The team may want Jones to play CB long term when you consider a few months from now...the only legitimate corner that could be left on the team will be coming off a major injury. It'll be easier to fill one FS spot than 4 CB spots.

I still think the plan is for him to play CB. I think he played FS out of nessesity this year

We haven't filled any safety spot since the day Woodson retired

This off season if it's easier to get CB talent put him at S. If it's easier to get S talent put him at CB. I don't care where he plays we just need to upgrade talent in the secondary.

I think a lot of resources will be going towards the secondary this offseason. With Carr probably gone, Claiborne probably gone, Church possibly gone and Wilcox being awful as a safety in general. I think they go after at least one upper tier S/CB in FA and spend another high pick on the one they don't get in FA.

If a good qb is there in the top 10, no way we take a cb. Unless the qb's that work out for them show nothing.

Didn't say a 1st, just a high pick. 1st-3rd Rd pick. If they don't bring in 2 guys via FA, they will have to address the secondary early. They won't be able to put it off like they did RB.

And just like they did w/ Crawford...there gonna screw up Jones as well. Crawford should have been left @ LDE....Jones FS. Wouldn't shock me one bit if they take Jones and move him there permanently...and he ends up busting.

That's going to be the issue. Everything will come down to who is there. If there is a QB then I go QB but I follow my board
If the best player is not a QB then I take best player no matter how big the need is at QB
Very well could be CB is where the talent is and if so that fills a huge need

Can't argue but we have tried.

Ken Hamlin had a good season and we invested heavily in him, a big mistake. There really isn't a ton of true free safeties coming out of college though. I can think of a few players that fans were screaming for in the past come draft time but none of those players have proven to be special yet.

Jones will play his same roles for the rest of the season. They know what he can do no matter where they end up playing him. and he will succeed where ever he ends up, FS or CB.
The off season will dictate where he ends up. Depending FA and the draft.
But how the team handles it will be a big factor. They will have options. As no matter if he is at S or CB, he will be great.
So depending on who they can sign and / or draft at what positions, will determine this.

People simply read too much into these interviews. It's this simple: they would like to keep Byron settled. But the situation isn't allowing for it. So, they haven't yet.
