Here’s a fair question. Romo said it himself in his press conference that the NFL is a meritocracy. That means you go with whomever gives you the best chance to win. It took a great amount of maturity and class for Romo to do that.
So the knock on pulling Dak in favor of Romo is that that is supposed to bust his conference and thus trash is career. However, doesn’t he also know that the NFL is a meritocracy? He’s demonstrated a lot of maturity for his age. Doesn’t he have the maturity to know it would be nothing personal if the team brought Romo back in to play – that they’re just doing what gives the team the best chance to win?
I’m not saying for certain that Romo definitely is the best chance to win in the playoffs. I’m honestly not certain. I’m just saying that in the event that he is, and Dak is struggling, doesn’t Dak have the maturity to handle a QB change? The original plan was for Romo to be the starter and Dak to be the third stringer. Should the only question be who gives us the best chance to win in the playoffs right now? Won’t Dak be okay in the event that he needs to take a back seat to Romo for now?
My question isn't who should start. It's "Won't Dak be okay if he doesn't start for a while?"
