I hate to play devil's advocate here, but should Aaron Hernandez receive a little of the benefit of the doubt right now? It's pretty clear that he's going to be found guilty, but until then, he shouldn't be treated as such
In court the standard for guilt is beyond a doubt but in the real world we make opinions based on what most likely happened. And I think it's clear he probobly had a hand in killing that dude.

Yeah like I said, I kind of changed my tune on that one after thinking about it.

Not exactly...

8/27/2012: Signed a seven-year, $41.115 million contract. The deal contains $16.4 million guaranteed, including a $12.5 million signing bonus.

They already paid out 9 plus million of that signing bonus. They also paid out a couple million in the guaranteed money, the rest of that being 3 million. The Patriots may be on the hook for that 3 million, because they did not stipulate a clause like they did with the 'workout' bonus. So what's left of the signing bonus is his due.

As far as guaranteed money, the Patriots didn't stipulate a fail to perform clause like they did for the workout money. Ian Rappaport had a big article that laid it out.
