At 50 I could run with 20 yr olds just a tad slower than ever. A year ago I could barely beat my wife running. My head said run and my body said take a hike. When it goes it goes quickly. There are people over 50 who can still run competitively. It's all nerve conduction velocity and muscles for the most part.

I doubt he can heal well enough or take the pounding as a RB unless a few carries a game as a 3rd down option. He might be able to run some kicks back.

He's in the 99th+ percentile but he can't take playing for long.

I'm humored that some of you are taking time to think this through.

From a publicity and human interest standpoint, it would be a winner.

From purely a football standpoint, it might well end up being a joke.

Why? That's what the site is about; esp the offseason. It's one of the most benign threads you'll see this time of year. He was a Cowboy so it's germane. Many think he could play a few snaps without being a joke but he's not beating out anyone. And he'd not last long health wise.

And its required no moderation.

Can't fool father time :oldcouple:

Herschel Walker was never a real fluid runner. He looked more like a bull in a china
closet with some speed and power. There wasn't anything smooth about his running style. As far as today goes, Homes wouldn't even make it out of TC.

I would buy his jersey if he made any team except the Skins or Eagles. I would even buy a Herschel Walker Giants jersey.

I agree with you on the Commanders and Eagles I dislike both of them, but I truly HATE the steelers and don't like anything or anyone on their team !

He must have a new book coming out or something. This gets people talking about him, and wala, buy the book.

:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

It would be pretty cool to watch Hershel get carried off the practice field on two different carts at the same time.

Hershel is a physical freak and a very tough man for any age.I wish him the best of luck even though the odds are stacked against him. Good luck Hershel.Injust wish Dallas would have gave him a chance.

If Dallas even thought about giving him a chance at age 54, we would be the laughing stock of the league.

Is it legal for Walker to bring a walker on to the field?

I have no doubt that Herschel is in better shape at 53 than I've ever been, but natural deterioration of the body from years of use say that this would end badly.

Most athletes' careers don't end in their 30s because they don't work as hard or even harder than they did in their 20s. Their careers end because their bodies can no longer hold up to the physical rigors of the game.

The talent doesn't necessarily go away, but the ability to sustain that talent for even a game diminishes greatly over time.

This is hilarious.

Herschel Walker
Right now you might be saying, “Herschel Walker played two sports?” The answer is yes, as the iconic football star, best known for his one-sided part in the biggest trade in NFL history when he was dealt from the Cowboys to the Vikings for half their team and draft picks running through the year 3000, recently started a second athletic career. Herschel Walker is now participating in mixed martial arts, where he’s fought two professional fights and is still training, now at the ripe old age of 50 years. His record in MMA bouts? An unblemished 2-0, with both wins coming from technical knockouts.
