If Falcons want to bring him in and let him try out great, Heck Dallas has brought in a kid who has only played 5 football games for the London Warriors outside of that no experience playing football.

I would buy his jersey if he made any team except the Skins or Eagles. I would even buy a Herschel Walker Giants jersey.

I've lost all respect for you.

Actually it's funny you say that, because when I was a young child (maybe like 8), I begged my parents to get me a Giants Starter jacket, because everyone else in my school had one (people also had the Cowboys jacket too, but this being NY, the Giants one was a little more popular. And the Giants had also won a SB a year or 2 back and the Cowboys were only starting to get big). My dad being a huge Cowboys fan was not happy with this, but eventually obliged.

Thankfully that phase only lasted a few months and by age 10 I was a full fledged Cowboys diehard like my dad. :)

If Hershel does get an invite hopefully for his sake one of his multiple personalities talks him out of it.

:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

It would be pretty cool to watch Hershel get carried off the practice field on two different carts at the same time.

don't be so sure. After his training in ballet, bobsled, marital arts and playing the ocarina at selected nightclubs, well i am sure he has good training to sustain hisself in football.

Football is still football.

This is entertainment

Ohhh myyy. Is it just me, or does it look like the 2nd defender to get near the QB tried to fix the QB's "wardrobe malfunction" for her? So adorable.

At 50 I could run with 20 yr olds just a tad slower than ever. A year ago I could barely beat my wife running. My head said run and my body said take a hike. When it goes it goes quickly. There are people over 50 who can still run competitively. It's all nerve conduction velocity and muscles for the most part.

I doubt he can heal well enough or take the pounding as a RB unless a few carries a game as a 3rd down option. He might be able to run some kicks back.

He's in the 99th+ percentile but he can't take playing for long.

I agree
He could go out there and take a few carries but the body just doesn't respond to the banging you get like it did in his 20's
Going out there on Sunday for a few carries is one thing, getting out of bed on Monday would be a whole different thing
Walker is a freak of nature and at 40 he could have probably pulled it off
But there is a world of difference between 40 and 50
And I can attest there is a world of difference between 50 and 53
Like you said, when it goes it goes fast
Unfortunately I have found this out myself at 55
I work out everyday and I'm in good shape but every year it is much harder and I'm not getting hit by 300 lb men in there 20's

So...maybe Hershel can still play. Jerry sure can.

What I've noticed about a lot of older players, is that while some can maintain really fast straight line speed, they lose their quick twitch, explosive lateral movement, cutting ability type of speed. A good example of this is T.O. during his last year here in Dallas. He was still super fast straight line, but his quicks were deserting him, and he wasn't nearly as effective.

Where this concerns Hershel, is that his strength never was being a side to side runner. So who knows? Maybe he could make a roster as a backup rb and kickoff returner? The guy has always been a physical freak and if anyone can do it, he can. That said, injuries would most likely put a stop to this comeback in short order.

I could play a few snaps just like Walker. Until I get killed of course.............

No way he could last a few games, much less a season at his age. He is an athletic freak for sure but it takes more than muscle to play in the NFL. Are the reflexes there? Will his tendons and ligaments stay attached? No one beats father time. Just because he still looks like a 30 year old doesn't mean that his internal structures can handle the rigors of being hit play after play.

My opinion though

Most athletes' careers don't end in their 30s because they don't work as hard or even harder than they did in their 20s. Their careers end because their bodies can no longer hold up to the physical rigors of the game.

You're forgetting that Herschel hasn't played in 20 (?) years or so, so he has a lot more tread left on his tires than most 53 year old RB's...:D
