Hey zoners, Holley has tweeted that he will be on PS too, should they shut up?

Maybe I am over reacting a bit to this but does it bother any one else that Jerry would use a PS position for a guy with no chance to ever contribute to the team, just to help Irvin's show and the marketing that comes along with it?

First off, how do you know he has zero upside? And second, it is practice squad. Having a good or bad practice squad doesn't determine if you're going to have a successful season. If Jerry did put him on there just because he won a reality show I don't have a problem with it. Who was his spot going to had he not gotten it? Jefferson? Amendola?

Obviously the PS has nothing to do with how this season goes. In my opinion it just speaks to the bigger picture and the fact that Jerry is about marketing first and doing whatever he can to keep the team in the headlines or media. It isnt a big deal, I just dont think that teams thinking football first would do that.

You can honestly say that after the very quiet off season we just had?

Seems to me he did just about everything he could to keep us out of the headlines.

To the best of my knowledge we were never the lead story on NFL Live or Total Access until the practice field incident with the storm and the collapse of the bubble.

WTG Holley!!! I remember when it was widely thought that Michael Irvin's "4th & Long" would be a huge joke. Holley just tossed that notion into the trash.

I dont mean those kind of headlines, I think he learned that negative press isnt the answer. Thankfully!

Its kind of like the video board, he has to love all the attention that it brought to the team. In the case of Holley and Irvin's show I dont think it is negative attention, it is just a case of there are a certain number of followers interested in how he did and the press will cover him from time to time. I dont think he is on the PS because of potential, it is because of the interest of some from the show. Again it is no big deal, just an observation.

Perhaps Holley and the show are a little more legitimate than anyone wants to believe. [/devilsadvocate]

It is very possible, but it seems like if that was the case he would of gotten a bit more action through out the preseason. Personally I like the guy and wish him the best.

Tweeting is a slippery slope and it is something all teams need to monitor. I'm sure all teams have internet guidelines that tweeting will fall into.

well he sure proved many of you wrong thats for sure.

Making the practice squad for just being a guy off the streets is a big deal.

I remember there were several people on on here who said the winner of the show would be nothing more than "Camp Fodder".

Well Holley is employed by the Dallas Cowboys now.

Uh yeah.. Tell me with a straight face that you thought anyone from that show had any chance of making anything related to NFL level football at the onset. Don't cross your fingers or toes.

So practice squad players (any) never make it to roster spots and become good players???

I should have read your subsequent responses before following up but yeah... you're both spot on.

Nobody gave him a chance at even that. He has a lot of haters on this forum, for what reason I can't fathom, because there is no logical reason for it. I guess I'm in the minority in that I like to see guys succeed when a majority wants to see them fail.

JMO but this "tweeting" issue will only get worse.

Does that mean Jerry needs to shut it down before it gets out of hand? Probably.

It isn't hurting anyone why shut it down?
