Hill: Irving is not reporting to start of training camp

they stated that he was going to miss all of camp and he is rehab for substance abuse

When did Ward look great with Rod "before"?
He was a mid-round prospect going into the 2016 draft. At the senior bowl Rod was able to coach him and he put him at the 3 instead of the various other positions his college coaches and eventual Raiders coaches had him playing.

Ward looked like an animal and was one of the biggest risers of senior bowl week under Rod’s tutelage. He rose so high that the Raiders took him in round 2 where maybe his tape and testing suggested a 4th or 5th round guy.

He’s finally back with the coach and system that made him dominant against the best college seniors in the nation in only a week. Give him a whole offseason and Jihad Wards physical traits and I bet you you’ll see a 5-7 sack guy at the least over the course of a full season. He’s already drawn rave reports from OTA’s and minicamp for whatever that’s worth.

opens things up for some of these other guys.
hope Jihad Ward seizes the opportunity.
also wonder if Taco will slide inside now...not full-time but on a few snaps.

hope Irving gets clean...he is dominant....and damn frustrating.

Missed all of off season training, will miss all of training camp, will miss the first 4 games of season - just like last year. Wont be in game shape, and will miss next couple of games - like when he showed up to mandatory mini camp.
Sorry, not sorry- Mr. Irving, there's the door, don't let it hit ya.

I beg to differ. Kawhi is a Top 5 NBA player at his position, regardless of any championship. David Irving is arguably a Top 5 NFL 3-Tech DT. Very similar in talent and abilities, including the same mental issues.
absolutely not. Kawhi isn't close to similar to disposition as Irving. The issue you have is that when Pop said jump, Kawhi didn't say how high and was looking out for his own physical well being and future by getting a second opinion. Good luck with that basket case DeRozan Pop. Why would you risk Max money to comeback and get run by Golden State on a very mediocre team? No. Team doctors routinely lie to get back before they are healthy.

Not going to debate the meaning of ‘RKG’ again just because you feel like working yourself up wanting to cut a player over an excused absence from training camp. Knock yourself out.

Well if we wanted to really stretch the value of "excused absence", one could say he had a long excused absence due to an unreasonable suspension by the NFL just because he was doing drugs.
I mean Irving could hardly be blamed personally for the NFL's overly strict stand against drugs, right?

**** man. Just, ****.

Irving, don't go down that RoMcClain path, my bro. Please, brother. Certified beast you are if you want to be. Stop ******* it up.

Just maybe...maybe...being at rehab is a step forward in not ******* it up...and not being another RoMcClain. I don’t pretend to know the full narrative, but is it possible rehab will be a plus both for the person and the player?

Datone Jones is another guy I wonder about. He's a former first round pick that's bounced around but he's hit talent and he's looking to find a home. I liked what I saw from his last year and optimistically, he could be an Irving replacement for the future. Not as flashy mind you, but not as unstable either.

It's a positive sign that he's trying. I don't recall McClain ever bothering to do that.
