i know it was preseason ..but i was impressed by the way he played...

2 rookies for MLB this week, one undrafted and the other a mid-round pick. And people are acting like this game will be a cake walk.

Lotsa roster churning this year . . . the staff is getting looksees at some of these fellas coming in through the turnstiles, so it may be someone we haven't been seeing in practice that they have. We'll know when we know.

He became only the third Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) player in NCAA history to record two games of 20 or more tackles and the first to do it in back-to-back games with his career-best 21 tackles at Minnesota on September 21 and 20 six nights later against Utah State.
The 2013 co-captain becomes the second San Jose State player to receive first or second-team all-conference football honors four times. In 2012, Smith was a first-team All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) choice. The 2010 WAC Freshman of the Year was a second-team All-WAC honoree that year and in 2011. His biggest play came as Brigham Young had the ball on San Jose State's 21-yard line late in the fourth quarter. Smith sacked the quarterback and forced a fumble that was recovered by the Spartans. San Jose State was able to run out the clock for their first win over the Cougars in four tries since 1968. So, who got cut to make way for LB Smith? I haven't seen anything posted yet, unless I missed it.

The only place we're overloaded is at DE, so I'd expect the cut to come from there, unless we replace a linebacker with a linebacker (which I don't think we'll do because of the injuries at the position).

How good can he play special teams? Maybe cut Cameron Lawrence if he can be plugged in there.
