Both put of 26 reps of 225 which was tied for 3rd among FB's 2 guys put up 30. Johnathon stewart put up more weight than both of them. I felt this would be a good thread to debate the top two full backs in the draft and see how the compare so far its even maybe the 40 time will be what it comes down to. I didn't get any of their measurements like arm span and stuff but if any has that gladly post it.

HIllis or Schmitt who is better

Ya, we haven't had an 800 post FB debate yet this offseason. This will be fun.

Schmitt is the more physical of the two, a real throwback type... now, Hillis is no shrinking violet his own self, but Schmitt is bigger and a tad more hardnosed...

Hillis' advantage is that he's considerably faster (4.55 to 4.8, on most of the draft websites, but they'll be giving us an official time soon), the better threat as a runner and receiver... indeed, some sites have suggested he might fare well in a single back offense as a lead runner, but I don't know about that...

I really like Schmitt, he kinda reminds me of the Moose, but one Metroplex mediot has said the Boys really like Hillis... and he'd be OK with me too, second choice here isn't too bad... sorry I can't recall who wrote that, but I did read it...

I don't think we're drafting a FB.

Thank You Michael. We have way bigger needs than to use anything higher than a 6th round pick on a FB.

With Fasano and Curtis on the roster we're much more likely to use one of them than one of the full backs we have or would draft.

I'm sure you didn't think we were drafting a TE in round 2 in '06 either.

Well that turned out to be a mistake. Do we do it twice in three years?

We were going to a two TE base set in 2006 so TE wasn't totally unexpected.

Well, the 2-TE explanation wasn't really "revealed" until after the pick.

Or used, for that matter.

I don't care what anyone says, taking a TE in the 2nd round is stupid, regardless of whether you're running a 2-TE set or not.

I think just like the Bobby Carpenter pick, it was another situation of Parcells falling in love with a guy. You can find a TE in FA or in later rounds to be the 2nd TE. Fasano has caught how many passes in his career so far? Not to mention he failed as a lead blocker. It was a dumb pick.

Bill Belichick doesn't agree with you.

By the way, Fasano plays about half of our offensive snaps.

In hindsight, if we would have known that Witten would be as good as he is, I would have spent a 1st on him. I don't necessarily think spending a high draft pick on a TE is stupid, but I DO think it's stupid when you consider what we already had on the team. We could have picked up a TE in the 7th (or undrafted) to do what Fasano has done in the league so far.

Well considering they let Graham go rather than pay to keep a 1st and 2nd round TE on the roster, I'd say he agrees.

The number of snaps Fasano plays doesn't mean much, a 4th, 5th or FA TE would play just as many.

I agree entirely.

Uh...he drafted them 2 years apart with 1st round picks. He certainly doesn't agree with you.

The point is that a position that sees that much playing time deserves some attention. The idea that they shouldn't be drafted high is just ridiculous.

A 2nd TE shouldn't be drafted high, sorry.

Drafting a TE high isn't the problem, drafting a 2nd TE when you have other needs, is a problem.

Last I checked, we haven't come close to the Pats success in recent years. It's not thing when you're playing with house money, and another when you're in the middle of rebuilding.

Not to mention that Fasano had nearly no impact once drafted because they either didn't scheme for him, or he wasn't as good as we believed.

We're obviously not going to agree on this one cause there's nothing any of you can say to change my mind that Fasano was a bad pick that high in that particular draft.

I never said put garbage out on the field at the 2nd TE spot, I'm saying you find value in the draft at a lower pick or bring in a vet.
