Hindsight is 20/20. Just stop. Running the ball was the right decision.

Then show us.

Sorry I don't memorize all games in my life but its done more often than you think.

Wake up. You are making pathetic excuses. As I showed above there were 3-4 other directions in the last 2 possessions that make it much harder on Detroit. Garrett chose none.

You don't even have to kneel 3 times. Hell, try to get a first down to end the game.

But if your runs on 1st and 2nd down actually lose yardage and your at 3rd and 14, I'm not sure there's any reason to run at all. You aren't getting that yardage and you're risking far too much at that stage in the game. Turnover, penalty, whatever.

Seriously. After losing yardage on 1st and 2nd down there's no way you can expect to get 14 yards on 3rd down. If you're just running a play to run a play, why not just take the knee?

RIGHT!!!

That's been my point the whole time. You have to look at the situations.

2nd to last possession you are trying to run clock and protect a lead. You run twice on give up runs and are stuffed. THEN you can run a draw, make them burn a timeout and punt.

Last possession is about no turnovers and running clock. As you said even if you run twice at that point and get stuffed you are thinking..."clock run." So you kneel. Either way, running again and then giving them the ball with more time isn't advisable. It was a fail;

I think the answer is for you...which close game did he not do it in?

Here's one. The only kneeling is when then game is over and we've won. Back to you.

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2006111903/2006/REG11/colts@cowboys#tab=analyze&analyze=playbyplay

He runs plays until the Colts exhausted their TOs, then kneels it. Back to you. And BTW, it's ridiculous to force me to prove a negative. You are the one claiming Parcells did this all the time. You should be able to provide one example where he kneeled and punted close to FG range when time would be left on the clock in a 3 pt game rather running plays.

The people screaming about "going for the throat" and passing on that series probably want to go for every 4th down inside the 50 because it's "aggressive" and "playing to win"

No, they probably actually don't. Trying to get yourself in a position to get a 1st down over 3 plays is not akin to "go for every 4th down inside the 50."

Once the Lions declined the holding penalty on Tyron Smith, the Cowboys should have went for it on 4th and 5. What did Jason Garrett see from the defense to make him think they'd stop the Lions?

This is what happens when you play not to lose. For once, Jason Garrett needs to coach to win.

4th and 5 is too long to try something so dicey, when you already have a 44-yard field goal attempt. Fans would be screaming if Garrett had turned down such an FG attempt to try a rather long 4th down conversion and failed.

Odds were about 50% that such a 4th down conversion attempt would fail, in my opinion.

no question running the ball was the right decision. my bigger gripe was with the O's previous possession that was horrific.

when the lions accepted the penalty the Cowboys did the correct thing and kicked the fg. Negative yards on 1st and 2nd should have prompted a kneeldown on third down and a punt. Holding call was a "possible" killer, but if we play marginally good defense we keep the Lions out of the endzone. We failed.

The only difference I would have made on the last offensive drive is to go into goal line formation. It's not like they were worried about a pass. If we were stuffed on 1st and 2nd, I would have done what Peyton did to us and done a designed QB rollout and run.
