Cyprell Hill? Yeah pretty weak. Maybe bc all there stuff used in movies influencing and so well recognized? MJ cult bs maybe. I voted Wu, NWA (dur), Tribe, Outkast. Feel a little slighted they had to compare Outkast with 36 (personal fav). 36 would vote for Outkast, they know their stuff is about more than lyrics and Outkast is Outkast. Gangster Rap: Aggression and underworld stories vs poets. Come on manne:D

Yeah I think Cypress Hill should have been in the brackets but to get as far as they have so far is pretty ridiculous. The one I was upset about was Black Star over Public Enemy. Black Star had one album, a very good album but Public Enemy has many classic albums and are legends.

Wow, totally missed on that one:D I thought you just mentioned of the groups and assumed Cypress, even if I like some of their stuff as well. Yeah PE v BS is a shameful result. Initially thought you were referencing Dipset(longevity regardless of taste/warranting) of the entire groups listed. Then saw the last 4 and thought Cypress stood out as the worse (depth of their music, etc.) by far of the 4.

and they beat EPMD in the first round. once I saw that, along with PE, I stopped looking.... talented group with 1 album, vs two groups with multiple gold and platinum albums and a classic or two to boot...

I can't really pin point what I attribute that too.It can't be young fans who don't remember or know much about EPMD because Cypress Hill started in the early 90s. It probably has to do with Cypress Hill being more known to the masses and with the whole weed culture that put them over the top but in no way is Cypress Hill a better group than EPMD.

Whenever I listen to Beans, or any of the other State Property Crew... you can hear the influence they had on Jay's style since 2000...
but of course he would never admit that.

Thought I'd throw a little Philly in there. Don't condone the gangsta rap (of course in real life application, etc.), just putting out an eclectic collection with some of the underground stuff.
