I tried to get into all that (I guess you might call it) horror core stuff like Necro, Cage, El-P and whatnot. I definitely respected their skills but it just wasn't my thing. In terms of the "mood" of the Hip Hop I prefer, I guess I'm somewhere in between Necro on the dark side and Jay-Z on the light side. Stuff like The Roots, Pharoah Monch, Black Starr, Gang Starr, Wu Tang, Nas, Em, Pac. But good list. I actually knew Copywrite. I was a big fan of his in high school and his best friend was my roommate in the Air Force. I went back to his hometown of Columbus a few times with my roommate since it was only about 2 hours from where I was stationed. Good mention of Tonedeff. I had him on my list. Was a huge Tonedeff and QN5 fan back in high school, but honestly haven't listened to him since (10 years). I included him in my list because I still respect his skills even though I don't listen to him anymore.
.

Tonedeff had a nice flow. Fast. That's cool you knew Copy, I had one mixtape from him. He had some crazy metaphors. I know he got his *** kicked by Camu Tao. As far as Necro and Ill Bill, I don't listen to that stuff all the time, but it's good if your in the mood--like watching a horror movie vs a comedy or whatever.

It really doesn't. That list is the best rappers of all time. Not the best rappers of NY or West Coast or wherever. You don't separate any other greatest of all time list like that. Where I live has nothing to do with it. Skill level, longevity, quality classic albums. My top 5, I'll give you my top 10 solo artists:

Nas
Rakim
Scarface
BIG
Pac
KRS-One
Jay-Z
Common
Ice Cube
LL Cool J

So let's see I have Midwest rapper, 2 West Coast(even though Pac isn't from the West), and a Southern rapper. Is that good enough for you. It shouldn't matter and it doesn't to me. If you are good you are good.

WOW I really love your top 10...but I would have to take Common out and insert Em.

I haven't trolled the vids you guys have posted, just wanted to remind you all about the CZ rules about language in vids and whatnot. As long as you guys post the clean versions or at least versions without filtered words, you should be ok.

Yeah, I wish I could post Diabolic stuff but I respect the rules and all. His new LP is coming out called "Fightin' Words". It is straight from the underground funded by kickstarter. Just youtube "Alien Manuscript" everybody.

It was tough leaving rappers off like Eminem, Andre 3K, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap to name a few. These rappers would be in my next tier.

Anyone down for doing greatest groups, this was very tough because a couple of groups have just a DJ and a rapper but I still consider them groups.:

1. Outkast
2. A Tribe Called Quest
3. Public Enemy
4. Run-DMC
5. NWA
6. Wu-Tang Clan
7. Eric B. & Rakim
8. EPMD
9. Gang Starr
10. De La Soul

Everyone except Outkast in my list. Commercially a success but there are just too many groups just as good as them when it comes to rapping. Naughty by Nature, Salt and Pepa, Goodie Mob, Mobb Deep, LOX, Geto Boys, Bone, the Roots and the forgotten Fugees. Just too many to name 10.

No way man. Saying there are too many groups just as good when it comes to rapping is about as big a discredit as you can say about Outkast. They were freaking phenomenal rapping together. Outkast discography is about flawless as it gets. All the groups I mentioned are great and had great moments but don't have the longevity and consistency Kast did. And when it comes to rapping 3K and Big Boi are about as good as it gets together.
