The Cowboys lucked out when they got Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. They might have just lucked out again by getting Parsons and Joseph. They were not going to take these players and they ended up falling to them,

You have to play the hand you're dealt.
Luck happens when preparation meets opportunity. Let's hope after all is said and done that they, indeed, got "lucky".

I really like both players, but I don't think they fell. Parsons was right there. Ranked right around our pick. We picked Joseph with the 44th pick. The board I was looking at had him ranked 68th. I know boards vary, but I doubt it would vary that much.

I havent had a chance to listen to any PC yet.

Has the team addressed Joseph's off the field stuff and why they are ok w it?

The deal is that I think that they were going to take Surtain. When Surtain was gone they took what fell to them and it might hit the jackpot.

They were ready to draft Surtain but when he was snatched the pick before us they didn't just take what fell to them, our nimble FO traded down from 10 to 12 to get an additional 3rd rd pick and still was able to draft their defensive BPA at 12... Micah Parsons. Jackpot indeed!

I love it. It is going to be interesting to see how it turns out. It will be awesome if this draft puts them over the top. One thing that I can see is it will light a fire on the defensive side of the ball. Guys are going to have to produce to be out on the field or even on the team. There should be a fire lit on those defensive linemen. They will have a lot of new blood on defense.

The great thing about having a high draft selection is you get to dictate these situations instead of being the one hoping other teams don't feel the same way you do. If Kelvin Joseph was in the 60s on most teams' boards and Dallas was picking in the 20s, they would be the ones that are like ...REALLLYYY hope this guy falls to us cause we love him and want to take him. Instead it's like, we really like this guy, he's coming off the board early because we like him and can do what we want. He's off the board at 44, and other teams are like, dang... really liked that guy, wish we were drafting in a better spot than this.

Oh yeah, they really lucked out with Dak. Too bad Dak didn't think trying to win super bowls was important until AFTER he got paid, though.

It is interesting with the trade down that we risked Parsons to the Giants, I guess our fallback would have been Slater.

They could have traded down again. Fields would have been on the board. They could have traded with New England or Chicago.

It’s almost like they traded back when Surtain was gone to give them a minute to think about it. It was a steal of a trade for us.

Well Fredbeard was ranked the #92 overall prospect by Mike Mayock nfl.com and the Cowboys picked him #31 overall.

In the "2013 draft do-over" in 2016 on nfl.com, Bucky Brooks listed Fredbeard as the #10 overall pick.

I would not put too much weight on where these prospects were ranked before the draft. Sure, it is good for entertainment purposes, but that should include "only" because rarely do the "experts" get it right in the end.

22.5 million dollar cap hit this season. I’ve repeated this to you on numerous occasions. The FO wouldn’t improve the team regardless if Dak is making 700k or a billion. They don’t believe in free agency. Regardless of moneyZ
