Hit on Witten...Did you Cringe?

NO i didnt, it's football and that's why i loved playing and now watching, the contact. I grew up in the 70's when no one even talked about hits below the waist or to the head or late hits to the QB etc... that was football. Now every minor "could have injured our player" hit gets talked about. But hey, these are the times we live in i guess.

the difference I see now than the 70's is player size.... can you imagine a 200lb RB being flattened by a 350 pound nose tackle??

How many 250 pound guys ran 4.5 40's in the 70's?

How many 300+ pound men were after QBs back in the 70's?

The players got bigger, faster, and more athletic. The rules changed to protect them.

_____________

As for the O.P., no, I didn't cringe. If we lose Witten for the season, we lose him. No amount of crying/whining would change that. Me worrying about it is not going to affect it in any way, so I tend not to get worried about stuff like that.

Did anyone else cringe after Witten caught the pass and saw the DB go low on Witten? Whew! That was a knee injury waiting to happen.

Once again that is the reason preseason is not on my list of favorites...I just had McGahee flashback

I was glad the colts were flagged for the late hit on Romo but I really did not give a second thought on hit on Witten until it was mentioned here.

As for the comments of: The players got bigger, faster, and more athletic. The rules changed to protect them. well offensive and defensive players both got bigger so it still evens out.

350 in the 1970's was only seen on the sumo mat:D

As soon as I saw it, I was like YOU MoFo........ Then Witten got up and I still cursed some more.
