It has occurred to me that finding great Pass Rushers is harder then finding great QBs. Right now in the NFL there are two only: Ware and Jared Allen.
JPP MIGHT make it but that takes a lot more years than one. Other then that?
Buptkus

Frankly when was the last one before these two? Our old nemesis from the Giants. And he has been gone for what 4 years?

Meanwhile counting the just retired Favre there are 3 right now first ballot HOF QBs in Brady and Peyton. And Brees, Rogers and god help us Eli are not that far off from being pretty much assured of it one day.

Peppers and Freeney are still playing right. I'd think they would be there. NFL players had Peppers listed above Ware last year in the top 100. (which was stupid).

Peppers and Freeney have a better shot at the HOF than Allen, imo.

Best pash rushers in recent memory are Jason taylor, michael strahan, simeon rice

JPP and Aldon Smith looked pretty damn good last year.

I think Aldon Smith is gonna make a HUGE impact for the Niners(which he already has), the man is from Mizzou (<3) and is a flat out beast.

Terrell Suggs is still around last I looked. Von Miller looks like he'll be a great one.

Suggs is a probowl player, but not close to a HOF. Miller and Aldon Smith were rookies. He is talking about guys who have HOF worthy careers.

If Suggs continues playing like he has the last 2 years he'll definitely be Hall worthy enough.

I think this is more the case of a QB/offense bias in the Hall than it is a lack of great pass rushers in the league.

Jason taylor is retired

Of that list Strahan will be in there when he's eligible. Neil Smith and Warren Sapp will get in easily. Where's Derrick Thomas? Did he die before 2000?

I think the OP's point was to point out to people how rare it is to find a consistent superstar pass rusher. We have a player in Ware who never misses games and consistently is at or near the top of the league in sacks, and will possibly go down as the greatest sack artist of all-time. Outside of Ware and Allen, there is no one currently in the league as consistently dominant. People expect to have a defense full of Hall of Fame pass rushers.

I agree. The list I posted shows that there really aren't that many dominant passrushers on the way up right now outside of Ware & Allen. All of the other active leaders are on the downside of their careers.

Osi, Trent Cole, Mario Williams, & Justin Tuck are still playing at a high level and could make a run but I don't really see it.

What happened to Shawn Merriman? He looked like he was going to be "the guy" but they found he was using HGH he has dropped off the map! 3 big seasons and then... poof!

After reading the 05 archives and seeing how upset everyone was that we picked Ware... man I'm happy.

Or maybe not. If Kevin Greene with 160 career sacks can't get a sniff at the HoF, I have my doubts that Neil Smith will either.

I believe Kevin Greene is the all-time sack leader for LBs. Actually makes you wonder a tad about Ware's candidacy.... Green played in a Superbowl and made it to multiple conference championships as well.

Suggs could have been a Cowboy instead of Newman there was a big debate on who the Cowboys were going to take in the 03 draft it was between Suggs and Newman. Reports were the Cowboys were considering trading down a few spots from #5 and selecting Suggs. Suggs went at #10 the Cowboys could have picked up an extra pick by trading down to grab him. He turned out to be a better player and is still playing at a high level.

Actually, Greene was a finalist this year for the HoF so he is "getting a sniff" and will likely be in within the next few years. Ware has actually had a better career so far than Greene though and should be a shoe-in... if he wasn't a Dallas Cowboy that is.
