It's great to get a win to end the season, but Cal sucks. Not a very impressive win by Texas. We desperately need better QB play next season if we wanna contend for the National Championship.[/quote]

LMAO

I actually spit out my drink

they won't be contending for anything for a few years

What's so funny? All we really need is good QB play which we obviously don't have. Sorry I'm no college football expert, but from what I've seen from this team they play solid defense and run the ball well they just need a QB as I said.

What's the point of this bowl game again? Why does it exist? There should be a max of 6 bowls or something. This game shouldn't be played.

Bowl games exist so that alumni have an annual place to party...

I thought everybody knew that...

The talent is there to compete next year. as was correctly pointed out this team simply needs luck with health(really bad injury season for UT), An actual full offseason for the young talent to get stronger/bigger, more reps and some consistent quarterback play to be a top ten type team. The vast majority of starters and contributors are back and were sophs and freshmen this year. They will be a tough out next year even if their offense isn't spectacular. Its easy to say that Cal's offense was

Why as a football fan I get to see what else more football. I guess sitting around watching reruns of simple sitcoms is more to your liking, I'll take the bowl games. Most thus far have been exciting and better than anything else TV has to offer.

I agree. I will say how Ash started and how he played later in the game showed some improvement. However the kid and he just a kid has a lot of work to do this spring. If Ash can get this accomplished Texas has a great defense and some very good offensive weapons at his disposal.

Given the fact that the vast majority of Texas is freshmen and Sophomores I think Texas future is looking very bright

I don't think Oregon is better than USC or Stanford.

I don't think Stanford is better than Oregon. I think Oregon is the better team or at worst, they are even. The Ducks did blow out the Cardinal this year at Stanford. I agree that they are both behind USC.

UT can't be down long, they get too much prime choice recruiting, I think that's why everyone is especially boggled why all these awesome Texas high school quarterbacks slipped under their nose, they definitely got caught honing in on a near sighted wish list a couple years back and missing out on Luck, RG3, Keenum and others.

I'm going to cut Ash some slack after all he is a freshman. I know the heat will be on him more so next year but thing is in college you often see big turnaround as these kids learn and develop.

I like how RGIII and Keenum have progressed but they do play in a different system than what most QB play in same could have been said about guys like Andrea Ware and some other QB who ran what was then called the Run and Shoot. Guys like Luck do not come around very often.

Those guys went under the nose of a lot of programs and Texas was not recruiting QB very heavy when those guys were coming out because they had McCoy. Texas' problem is that they picked up two highly rated prospects in the classes of 2009 and 2010 that ended up being huge disappointments.

Ash has had a disappointing season but he is also a very young kid who has not developed as of yet.

Look at a kid like Christian Ponder and what he looked like as a red shirt freshman and then what he looked like after he started to develop. You see bigger turn around in the college ranks than what you see in the Pros.

I think Ut will win 7 to 9 games next year, they'll be in the thick of things.

I would not be shocked to see them do better than 9 games. Really depends on how Ash progresses over the spring.

The kid is a very talented player who I think once the games start slowing down for him will be able to step up and show the talent he has.

They can go 11-1 and I'll be happy for them so long as they continue losing to the Bears.:)

As in Baylor I take it? I'm proud of the job Baylor did this season and will be pulling for them tonight vs Washington. As for the future or at least next season they better hope RGIII stays in school. :laugh2:

Or basically they swung and missed with Garrett Gilbert. They put all their apples in a 5 star state champion and he busted. It has set the program back a couple years and now they are trying to find anything and I mean anything to fix the problem. Not to mention that the oline play has been a disaster for a minute.

So long as they have Briles they'll be steady.

I like Briles but would not bank on it.
:D Agree to disagree, winning begets winning, the Big 12 is tough but with solid publicity, a good staff, and new facilities and stadium things are looking up.

Will Baylor fetch OU and UT recruiting classes? Seldom. But just as Grant Teaff gave Darrell Royal problems I think Art Briles may do the same with Mack Brown, it will be good for the conference and rivalry to see them go back and forth in a game of significance again.
