He looked very good on his blocks today. Only one struggling was Free, looked like. Was Nagy our achilles in the running game? Or was it just the Rams, dude?

I think it was that DeMarco Murray hits the hole with authority and that leads to good things.

I think it's a combination of many factors.

Nagy was drastically undersized, and could not hold up strength wise against NFL defensive tackles.

Holland most definitely can, it's just a matter of staying in shape with him, and moving his feet. He played well today against a poor Rams defense though.

I will be excited to see if his play can continue.

A little bit of everything but the only thing he's not better than Nagy in is getting out to the next level on screen plays.

Otherwise, he's better in run blocking and pass protection. And as he showed today, he has surprising quickness and is decent at pulling too.

I've been laughed at for this before, but I maintain that WHEN HEALTHY he's a better guard than Kosier is.

All the above.

Nagy was the weak link, and the Rams aren't that good.

Costa seemed to do decently.

we need to see how Holland does against quality D lines. But this is certainly a good sign.

Which again makes you think it was mostly due to the Rams defense...

I personally think Costa is terrible at run blocking. He gets ZERO push. He is ok in pass protection, but the middle of the OL never can get off the ball and into the defense very well.

I agree that it was a combination of factors. But I thought Holland looked good and played with great intensity. I also thought Fiammetta added a lot, and the Rams' defense is the Rams' defense.

A little of both I'm sure. Holland played a very good game but Fi made a huge difference too. I doubt Jones would have had the same total yards but I bet he'd of had a big day today too with the same blocking.

Agreed. Plus Murray is a STRONG runner.

Wonder what we can do if Dockery comes in to replace Kosier.

It might make better sense to put Holland at RG since he was supposed to be our starter there before getting hurt. But I do think it's possible kosier will get replaced by one or the other if he continues to struggle.

I'm not so sure he should replace Kosier, but I will certainly be glad to have him back, if for nothing other than depth.

It was the Rams ... and this Murray runs with a little something extra at the end of the run that helps

Thank goodness you pointed that out. I thought it was the Lions again.

Seriously, we all know it was the Rams.

Surprise!
