Holmgren is perhaps more compatible with Jerry but his offense would take awhile to implement.

This is why I believe Garrett will be the HC eventually. The best HC is probably Singletary who is gone now. I doubt he and Jerry could ever get along. Singletary needs to work with a 'regular' GM and an absentee owner. Cowher probably as well. Although Jerry could bow out ala Parcells.

Although I respect Holmgren, I have never been a fan of his type of teams. Coincidentally, I am not a big fan of the Midwest offense either.
Me neither.

Also, I'd like a coach who doesn't look like the Michelin man. I've spent a lot of time worrying if our coach is going to just die in the Texas heat, I would sleep a lot better knowing that they will be ok.

Same here. I really dislike WCO teams for some reason. I don't like most offensive-minded HCs, as a rule.

But like I've said since last year, I think he's the leading candidate to be our next HC. And I do respect him as a coach. Just please tell me Dave Campo won't be our DC.

BTW, I can't wait for Sarge to see this thread.

Say it ain't so!

I feel the same way, I want my coach to be a defensive coach, although history shows that doesnt really matter.

The thing to worry about holmgren is his defense and his staff he puts together. It takes him forever to get it right or he never does. It would be all too convenient for holmgren to have a chat with jerry and then bam...campo is our coordinator and the defense is changed.

I like garrett and still hold hope he is the next head coach actually, continuity can be a good thing but we dont know what he would do defensively either.

And as far as the wco I dont like it that much either, but homlgren and shanahan still run the ball alot so I can deal with it. Holmgren still likes to throw the ball down the field and he uses tight ends and fullbacks really well.

I like that he likes to run the ball. However, a couple of his run packages irks me for some reason. When they use to go red or brown formation on the goal line in Seattle, it use to turn my stomach and I am completely indifferent to Seattle.

If he were the Cowboys coach and ran that same crap I would vomit in my mouth to the point of to dry heaving.

Same guy that coached the all time INT leader to a Super Bowl victory.

And he also took Matt Hassellhoff to the playoffs several times, that has got to be a testament to the man's coaching abilities.

Come on man, didnt you see the wink. I was messing with you.

That said, I dont want him.

Holmgren is a very likely match here as his personality is such that he doesn't have to be 100% in charge of personnel. He certainly has the skins on the wall to have Jerry's respect as well.

Well maybe the last couple of years. But he left GB looking to be head man in charge of all things football related with his next team.

Yes he won a Super Bowl in 1996 when Dallas self destructed, lost one when his same packers got cocky the following year and slid into one when Dallas once more self destructed in 2005 only to be undermined by terrible officiating that usually accompanies Steeler Super Bowl appearances strangely enough.

He IS the Favre of coaching or the marginally less egomanical Parcells.

Both haven't won a Super Bowl in a generation and both are in retirement but can't seem to keep away.

And he gave that up in Seattle when it appeared he wasn't so great at doing all those things at once

Pass.

Sure he has success, but I don't like his game planning or schemes.

I'd rather have Cowher or even Shanahan. Perferably Cowher.

Couldn't agree more. Why would anyone want Holmgren now? What has he done lately?
No way.

Like I've said before, I think it's Garrett's job to lose.

How he does this year will determine Jerry's path when the season concludes.

I'm not implying he's a spare, I just really believe he is the last of the 3 (4 including Garrett) I want to see coaching Dallas. Cowher is better and provides a fire that the Cowboys need. He's a proven winner and went out at the top, not the bottom.
Either way it will probably be Garrett's turn as suggested.

Holmgren would be a vast improvement over Bozo the Clown Wade.

Yet, I am tired of settling.

If Shany is available, why settle for Holgren?

But, at this point, with our window of opportunity getting smaller each year we don't get to the Super Bowl, Holmgren does look appealing.

I think that is a very accurate assessment. Before Parcells left there was talk about how Jones was going to pursue Garrett for a position with the intention of having Garrett take over when Parcells quit so much of this has been written in pencil for several years.

Yes sir.

Wade is in the last year of his contract and it will not be renewed.

First Wade's to lose, then Garrett's, of course. I'd rather stick with Garrett than an old has been.
