I have lived here for 3 years and in 3 different apartments during that time. They cleaned house of their office and now this place is just a joke compared to what it used to be.

I just received a letter from them basically threatening me to give them a written answer to their new leasing terms that just happen to add $200 per month onto my current rate...and if I do not, then they will add more because this is their friendly spring "deal".

Not to mention that they charged my brother, who just transfered apartments in the same complex, $2,000 for damages. They claimed he needed a new refridgerator, stove, dishwasher, resurfacing of the floor, kilzing (sp) and much much more.

They told him it would be cheaper to replace the appliances that he damaged instead of fixing them...but after 10 mins on line, he had found all the replacement parts for $250.

They are basically charging him for things that are either their fault (water damage from a neighbor's burst pipe) or replacing a fridge that stops working every week. They just want him to pick up the tab.

I am sorry about this nothing rant thread, but I just cannot believe they think they have great customer service.

If you live in Austin or are moving to Austin, avoid Amli on Monterey Oaks like the plague.

Ouch! I used to live in Sendera Springs just down the street. No problems in that place. Good luck.

Contest this. I don't know about Texas, but Arizona you couldn't get away with this.

I read in the WSJ, that they're owned by an evil splinter-group of Scientologists, and only employ hermaphrodites or trans-gender German prision parolees.

Is this true Heinrich??

That is a nice place, I have a friend who lives there.

This just gets better and better. One of the supers came into my apartment yesterday and "took an inventory" of messy my place was.

I had beer cans on my counter and dirty laundry on the floor in my bedroom. They lectured me about how to "care" for my apartment. So I guess now they have the right to tell me how many shirts I can have sitting on my floor. This place is a ****ing joke.

Calico, I strongly recommend you get yourself a lawyer. I know it's expensive, but there's lawyers out there that'll work cheap. These guys are no better then the mafia, all they're trying to do is strong arm you.

Thanks for the input all. My brother is the one who has more problems than I do, but they only started to come after me because of him. He is the one who needs the lawyer right now and luckily his best friend's sister took the case for free. They actually showed their hand to him when one of the office ****** told him that a previous occupant had gotten away with not paying damages so now they are going after all they can get...and the super told my brother that his fridge was shot, only to suddenly go silent when he realized that he had let the cat out of the bag.

I am just a pissed off tenent who will be leaving soon and who will not put up with harassment.

I actually posted a review on that site last month...here it is.

http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/TX-Austin-Archestone-at-Monterrey-Oaks.html

They have it misslabled as another complex in the description. Mine is the top one labled "not what it used to be..."

According to several of my friends at Texas, this isn't all that uncommon, especially the random rate changes. The apartment owners are all a little bit insane according to them. One has lived in 4 different apartment complexes now and the other two have lived in two.

They can't add on to the current rate without your consent I believe. Your lease is a legal contract so you pay what it says when you signed it. I might have a talk with a law professor at your school and see what he says if I were you...

Now if they are talking about adding onto your next lease, not much you can do sadly.

The only time they can raise your rent is when you sign a new/renew your lease.

I just got back from the office...they tried to claim that I never signed my lease agreement with my current rate and that I could sign a new 1 year lease with the $200 added onto my current rate or "surrender" my apartment.

They claimed that they would never rent out a one bedroom at my current rate. The current staff would know nothing about my signing rate and lease because they were not working here at the damn time.

Luckily they did not count on my being organized and actually having a damn copy of my SIGNED lease...they were "baffled" when I presented it. So, now I can avoid that screwing.

They have to have a copy of the original lease on file. Good for you for having a copy. Even though I work for the company I still kept a copy of any paperwork I signed.

I hope that after you showed them your copy of the lease you got up in their face and yelled..

That is what I thought. But they went through a whole little act of copying mine for their records and then blaming the previous staff for losing the lease. It went from "unsigned" to "lost".

This new staff have no idea what they are doing. None of them are on the same page at all. One of them will call me, tell me something, and then pass me on to the manager, who tells me the complete opposite of what I was just told.

They always lose rental payments and overcharge on the water bill. My water bill was usually around $20 a month for over 2 years, suddenly it jumped to $80 with late fees tacked onto it.

I showed proof that I never was late on a water payment. Their solution? "Just pay the fines and they will go away next month." Seriously, I would never hit a woman, but I really wanted to slap her in the face in response to that gem.

I don't know why the previous staff was cleaned out, all except for one girl who is actually a friend of mine, but she is staying out of this because of conflict of interest.

These people are so damn rude and act like you are a huge inconvenience for them when you show up in the office.

They actually basically left my brother an eviction notice today because he was too busy to call them on Tuesday from work. So instead of trying to get ahold of him, they leave a notice that he will not be allowed to transfer to his new apartment and that the deal they made on repairs was off.

Of course, they closed early today for no reason and will be closed tomorrow when my brother finally has the time to deal with them...GREAT Amli customer service.

I only have 2 months left on my lease and can't wait to get out of here...I will miss all the hotties that live here though.

I will look into them. Right now I am leaning towards moving to Houston for a year and living in my parents house for them while they take care of family in the UK. I will have the place to myself in a nice 2 story house with a pool (in Kingwood for those of you who are in Houston). It will be rent free and I will just have to pay utilities and what not. It will help me save a nice chunk of money for when I finally get a house of my own.

That's easily your best bet. If you have an opportunity to save extra money for your own house then do it. Better then paying rent AND trying to save money for a house.
