What do you guys think the chances are that the Cowboys end up with home field advantage in the playoffs?

I think many would say we have NO chance. I disagree. I think that there is a decent chance that 13 and 3 gets home field advantage in the playoffs. The Saints are unbeaten, but realistically, they are not the caliber of team that you believe can stay unbeaten. I think Dallas beats them in New Orleans. I think they will also drop a couple that they shouldn't. Its just the way the NFL works.

I also think Favre will be Favre and will cost the Vikings a few games down the stretch, and the Vikings arent that well coached, so I can see coaching cost them a game somewhere along the way. If Peterson gets hurt, they could also befall hard times.

Its hard to stat on a winning streak, so Dallas will probably drop a game somewhere along the way as well.

I don't think it matters, we've already ****ed that one up before (see: 2007).

This may sound odd and a bit defeatest, but I sort of hope we dont get a bye. Maybe we can get a home game in round one and shake this confounded streak of no playoff wins. Of course optimimzing the possibility of a championship is important, but I would be thrilled to get all the haters off this drumbeat they insist of keeping up about the team and Romo not winning when it matters. Lets crush the Packers or Falcons in round one and hope for the best afterwards.

It matters but does not ensure victory. I think any team would rather have a bye week heading into post season and playing at home that is pretty much a no brainer.

Right now I'm not looking that far down the road, I just want to see Dallas to continue playing good football and working on improving as the season goes on then we will see where we are at that time.

It does sound odd, I would much rather have 2 games to play to reach the SB than to play 3 games to get there.

Yep, especially if those two games are at home.

True. As I said though I'm not getting ahead of myself lot of work for this team to do before this kind of talk takes place.

I hear you, but every time I hear people (fans or tv people) dismissing everything good the Boys do by saying Romo has never won a playoff game and we havent won a playoff game of 12 years so nothing good matters until then, I always think, if we didnt have a bye in 07 we would have won a first round game (probably) and us fans wouldnt be subjected to this disrespectful talk that goes on and on. I feel like getting that over with because God forbid they get a bye and lose in the first round.

I guess I can understand that but I still would rather be in a position to get the bye and the home games. What has happened in the past can't be changed and people will say whatever they want to. All I care about is this team getting into a position to have a shot at a championship and the best way and easiest way is to only be forced to play 2 games instead of 3.

If the theory, that they will drop some they shouldn't, I would assume that applies to us as well! Since we are already 2 behind them.... I don't see them going any worse than 14-2, maybe 13-3 if they already have HF locked up by the last couple weeks. I still think 11-5 would be a great year considering, a few short weeks ago, I wasn't sure we were any better than NY, Phily, Atl, GB, Chi, NO or Minn. Things change so quickly. I love how we are playing right now though.

Chances are slim to none. We'd have to beat New Orleans in the Katrina dome, and even then it is unlikely because they only have 3 games left (New England, Atlanta and Dallas) in which we can realistically say there is a chance they'll lose, meaning we'd probably have to go 13-3 or better along with beating them. Anybody here really think we're going to go 7-1 or better the rest of the way?

I think we have a realistic chance to beat out Minny for a first-round bye, though. Their schedule isnt quite as easy as NO and they already have one loss.

N'awleans is a difficult place to play, it is an actual homefield advantage, not so sure any other NFC contender ca n say that.

Cowboy Stadium may be rocking for a playoff game though. who knows.

But Arizona isn't exactly threatening to play in and Dallas would have a plurality of the crowd.

The Metrodome isn't exactly a fearsome place to play.

The Georgia Dome is a kitten.

The Eagles won't be hosting jack.

So really only New Orleans can lay claim to a meaningful homefield advantage.

Yep. Homefield advantage will guarantee us a superbowl berth. Fantastic. Hey, the 2007 Cowboys called. They want me to tell you that you are on the money here.

We'll have to go play there in the playoffs hopefully. Probably for the NFC champ game. We're lucky to go there during the season and get our feet wet there first.

As long as we get the length of the playoffs indoors, it's fine with me. (Romo's passer rating indoors has been over 110 each season.)

That means playing in Dallas (roof closed), New Orleans, Minnesota, Atlanta, and Arizona (roof closed) are all acceptable destinations. New York, Philadelphia, and Green Bay are not.
