I was analyzing our chances not only to make the playoffs, but to have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. It looks like our loss to the Seahawks is gonna hurt more than I initially thought it would. Since they beat us we are going to have to win two (2) more than the Seahawks over the next 7 games or the Seahawks would have an advantage over us due to the tie-breaker.

The second seed in the NFC looks very attainable at this point, provided we beat Carolina. We currently have the beaten most of the other contenders for seed #2.

We SHOULD beat Detroit, but we need to take care of business. Beating Denver at home appears to be a must if we are going to get a #1 or #2 seed and a first round bye.

Even though I think Carolina is way overrated, itll probably be them and Seattle at 1 and 2 via there schedule.

I think as it stands today wed play the 6th seed TB. Id take it

If the Cowboys beat Carolina, there is a way to get homefield without having a better record than Seattle. If there was a 3-way tie between Dallas/Carolina/Seattle, then I believe since Carolina and Seattle don't play each other, it would go to best conference record, and so on. So, there is still that possibility.

^^^ I agree. Im over at ES tellin some of those guys to shut up about their 7-0 predictions and ****. Let's beat Detroit. Everything else will fall into place. We win the games, things go right. Then again, doesn't hurt if the fans have a bit of fun.

However, 6 wins doesnt get you into the playoffs. If we are sitting there at 10-3, 10-4, thenm maybe i start talking about homefield.

Let's make the playoffs first. In fact, let's get 9 wins before we start worrying about our postseason matchups.

Seattle's homefield is not that much of a threat. We almost won there. Sorry but the west coast aside from Oakland is not passionate about football. Even Niner fans don't show up these days. If we have to play at Seattle, I'm not that concerned.

How is Carolina overrated?

They have a good running game. They have a really good and dangerous (Steve Smith) passing game. They have a very good defense........ the list goes on.

Just curious as to why you think they are overrated.

Because everyone else is saying they are?

I think Carolina is very dangerous. They are a very good team and will be very tough to beat. We'll have to show up big time and play to our fullest ability to beat them. We can win, but it will be tough.

They are rated high for a reason. I happen to think they are the team to beat in the NFC. They are the best all around football team IMO (in the NFC and that is with Jenkins out).

Having said that, they aren't head and shoulders better than Dallas.

My only point is, they are not overrated. They are rated where they are because they deserve it.

I believe Seattle is the most overrated team right now with a winning record.

We should have our ***** kicked for not getting the win up there. Granted, their defense held the offense in check all game, but the opportunities were there to put up the numbers.

What the heck? You guys dreaming about Home Field Advantage ALREADY??? Holy smokes. We haven't even made the playoffs.

Let's not get in over our heads. Sheesh. There are 7 more games to play ... all with a possible L next to them.

Enjoy it game by game, and let's not start talking Super Bowl quite yet.

Not sure I agree about the run game. Yes the are very accomplished at punching the ball in on short yardage. However, between the 20's the run game doesn't scare me at all.

Totally agree on the D comment, I believe they would give our O-line fits.
I picked a Indy/Car SB........I'm sticking with it.

Carolina has a tough road to travel as do we. They play Atlanta twice, Tampa, and BUffalo and Chicago on the road, not to mention us.

Seattle has a relatively easy schedule going forward with SF twice.

I won't say that Carolina is overated because I think that there are 5-6 teams in the NFC that are pretty much equal but they DO NOT have a good running game (3.0 Yds per carry) and Delhomme has not had his best year. Steve Smith is their threat, if you stop him you can really put the hurting on Carolina. Nobody has stopped him yet though.

Atlanta, Carolina, Giants, Cowboys,Tampa Bay,Seattle and yes the Commanders are pretty equal in the way they are playing at this point. The only way to get to the playoffs is win the division in the east I believe. Chicago, I am not sure where they are, but their record is really the only thing that counts, and right now they are even with us.

It is going to be a race to the finish, and a battle between the South and the East for that last wildcard spot.

It is a good thing that Pettiti will have 5 mores games of experience before facing Carolina. We have to get our running game much better to get to where we want to be this season.

Seattle will take HFA running away; their schedule's too easy. If you take their three remaining games vs. quality opponents and count them all as losses they are still 11-5 which is what I predict for Dallas. Head to head, we lose because of the game we gave to them. I'm betting, though, that Seattle will lose it's first playoff game so the real goal should be the #2 seed who still gets a first round bye.

Carolina, Tampa, and Atlanta have a lot of playing against each other to do and New Orleans will steal at least one more game in that division.

Bottom line: We must defeat Carolina, and we can't afford a single NFC loss.

Carolina's one of the best coached teams in the NFC and or NFL. Their assistant coaches and coordinators are arguably the best staff in the NFL, but right now at a neutral site, I think we're right there with them. The game in Charlotte Dec. 24 might have some real post season ramifications, too.
I wouldnt underestimate Carolina.
