I always used linksys and never had much of a problem.

Only reason I don't use it is because ATT Uverse comes with a router and I am told FIOS's service comes with a router built in to the modem as well.

This is a touchy subject. I recommend Netgear as the least of many evils. Linksys' Wifi is known to have dropped connection issues. Netgears have been solid, but god forbid you have to call their support.

Linksys wired routers I've never had an issue with, but then again I haven't bought one since Cisco bought them. As noted, Netgears have always been solid for me and everyone I've ever known that has had one, but their tech support is full of horror stories if you search the net. I've never called them or known someone that has.

I used to have a Netgear router that worked alright, no problems...but one day I did have a problem and when I dialed customer service...IT WAS FREAKING HORRIBLE!! I swear they patched me over to Pakistan or some other country that I could not communicate with the service person! Horrible...

So, I contacted Comcast and for $5.00 more a month they "leased" me a Netgear router and if I have any problems they will come and fix it for me. I don't have to call some 3rd World country to get help.

What I'm really looking for is a combination modem/router, so I don't have the separate boxes. I don't know if that exists.

Netgear and Linksys are both very good now.

Once Cisco purchased Linksys, things started turning for the better as far as Linksys switches/routers/print servers etc...

You can't go wrong w/ either anymore.

Both have excellent support as well.

I can agree with the Linksys part of this post. Because its my only experience really.

Used Netgear a few years back and they werent so good. Based on your post I would say they are both good now(like you said).

I'll vouch for Linksys. Mine has worked like a champ ever since I picked it up.

DLink can kiss my ***.
