Every July Chris Berman serronades us with his "back, back, back, gone" during the homerun derby and with that that's what this mock is planning on doing. Too many good players and too many holes to fill in one off-season but I'm going to try.
Round 1. Pick 16: Donald is gone but Ebron remains so with that we move back to 20(850) with Zona for pick 84(170) too boot. Pick 20 comes and several good WR's remain and the Panthers at 28(660) move up with picks 92(132) & 124(48).
Pick 28. Dee Ford DE Auburn: New Orleans maybe forced to go corner or safety following their roster cuts over the last few weeks so Ford fell through to 28. Ford can bring the heat and would a much welcomed addition.
Pick 47. Dominique Easley DT Florida: Has a injury history which might scare them off and some question his commitment because he was quoted as saying he's never watched a whole NFL game. Make no mistake about it, if his medical checks out round 2 is a steal for him.
Pick 78. Jarvis Landry WR LSU: In a draft full of WR's Landry may be the one who falls on draft day because of his slow 40 at the combine. Much like Stedman Bailey last year, Landry might not be the fastest but IMO he has the best hands of all the WR's in this draft.
Pick 84.Christian Jones LB Florida St: Time for a major shakeup in the linebacker core. Holloman was a nice surprise for a 6th rounder but Wilbur, Durant, Lawrence are all JAGS and need replaced with better options. Carter best improve because he'll be on the chopping block quick if his poor play continues.
Pick 92. Terrence Brooks FS Florida St: Brooks is what this team needs and not just another Strong Safety that will looked lost in coverage. I think Wilcox will be a good player but he has to stay on the field this year.
Pick 115. Ka'deem Carey RB Arizona: 40 times will cause him to fall but make no debate Carey is a football player regardless of what the underwear Olympics showed. With Murray on the last year of his deal this could be the cheap alternative for 2015.
Pick 146. Trai Turner OG LSU- Not many big men can move like Turner moved in Indy. Turner may go higher now following a pretty good workout but prior to the combine he was rated as a 6th to 7th round guy so round 5 might be a good spot.
Pick 206. David Fales QB San Jose St: Fales was at one point last season considered a first round QB but since the start of the 2013 season his stock has dropped. If he lasts til this pick he could be a good one to groom and at least he won't cost a 4th like McGee did.
Pick 208. Colt Lyerla TE Oregon: more than likely he'll be in the "box" and not on the Boys board but for the sake of this mock. If he puts his head on right Escobar and him would be a potent combo.
Pick 215. Bene Benwikere CB San Jose St: 7th round project at corner who has good size for today's NFL.
