Honda introduces car designed specifically for Women

The auto industry has traditionally been male-dominated but Honda has rolled out a new model it claims to have specifically designed with women in mind.

The new Honda Fit She’s is a pretty-in-pink version of the maker’s familiar subcompact that offers a few niceties the maker believes will specifically appeal to distaff buyers, such as a windshield designed to block skin-wrinkling ultraviolet rays.

But will women actually care? While the new Honda subcompact may be the only car currently on the road specifically targeting women there’s a good reason. Previous feminine offerings, such as the old Dodge LaFemme, met with little more than indifference and, in some cases, outright hostility.

I was pretty sure this was going to be a joke article when I clicked the link. Sounds like something you'd have seen on The Onion.

Well hopefully the design makes it safer for them to drive while putting on their makeup. :)

I know some of you won't find this as funny as I did because I was young and I was there, but I will tell it anyway.

When I was young, I remember my grandparents joking with other people at a family gathering when the subject of car safety came up. My grandfather said, "The safest car for a man is one that a woman can't drive." My grandmother responded with, "You know most accidents are caused by men." My grandfather then said, "That's because they're trying to avoid the women drivers putting on their makeup and brushing their hair."

My grandmother got the last laugh though. On the way home after we left, we were stopped at a light and my grandfather pulled out his comb and used it on his hair. My grandmother looked over at him and without any emotion said, "Woman driver."
