Does the talent at the top of this draft appear underwhelming this year because we are picking at #4, and expect so much out of the pick, or is the top of the draft underwhelming this year?

Personally, I think the year we drafted Tyron Smith there were about 10 guys that would be drafted before anyone out of the upcoming draft if they were in this draft.

This is just a weird draft.

It just is not fat at the top like a lot.

And that Tyron Smith draft has proven historically to be way above the norm, so that's not exactly a fair comparison.

Alot of it is us just naturally overthinking it a bit, and fear of messing up a pick this high, so we're also naturally gonna nitpick alot more......

I don't think their is a legitimate day one NFL superstar in this draft. Even Tunsil, who is easily the safest pick, may not be an elite LT from day one. The most exciting players are guys we are having to project, like Ramsey and Jack and the QBs. It makes this years draft all the more stressful, because even at #4, you're looking at big bust potential most likely.

With that said, the second tier players in this draft legitimately go two rounds deep. I can't remember a time when that has been the case. This is going to be a very weird draft to watch.

May go down as one of the best first rounds ever

Take the qb, he becomes your franchise guy and the rest of the draft can flop. Grade A

I think part of what makes this draft feel flat is lack of the impact positions at the top. You have DE Bosa, which is normally a impact position, but most seem to peg him as a good all around as opposed to a fast twitch freak. Ramsey is probably the best player worth a top 4 pick, if you think he's a CB. At S it gets harder to take at 4. Jack is a great talent, but he's an off ball linebacker. Treadwell is a good WR prospect but not a Julio Jones or Amare Cooper level one. None of the top three QBs are the type that gets you all hot and bothered. Tunsil is probably the closest to the cream of the crop prospect, but its also the position in the draft we need the absolute least.

This was the 2011 draft.

It's easy to see after 5 years. The only draft that was very top heavy was the Aikman, Manderich (sp), Sanders, Thomas, Sanders in 1989.

There were tons of questions about Newton. Aldon Smith was late riser as was Julio. This board debated Watts and Smith who couldn't start at USC at LT and was playing RT. No one saw Watt's as the best DL in the league. If anyone would have said that he would have been called a ******.

You just draft what's available this year. At least there's rookie salary cap so you won't get killed by giving out some insane money.

Personally, I pick a QB at 4 assuming he checks out. I don't want this team to go through another post Aikman era.
