You’re right, hope isn’t a strategy so lets get that out of the way.

My hope is tonight is the beginning of the push towards the playoffs. The defense is going to look a lot different tonight than what we’ve seen so far this year. That’s a good thing for obvious reasons. If they can improve to middle of the pack defensively, then I think the Cowboys can finish 10-7. There’s a good chance that will get you into the playoffs. Revel will need time to figure out the speed of the NFL so I think they’ll take it slow with him. Overshown is going to be Overshown and is going to be a force to deal with. Williams, Clark and Osa should help out in stopping the run better than the defense has been able to do thus far. Wilson should help out the LB crew and be the veteran leader they sorely need in the middle. The improvements up front and in the middle should help out the secondary and limit some of those huge chunk plays teams have been getting.

The offense will benefit from an improved defense as well. Maybe they won’t be playing from behind 10 or more points as often. That will enable them to become more balanced as an offense instead of 1 dimensional in which teams can just T off on the passing game.

There’s hope for this team. You just have to believe.

I believe many Cowboys fans (if not all of us) would willingly forget the Packers game if it were possible.
The tie changes everything. Glass half full says it’s not a loss… but it’s also not a win.
The reason @Rockport said 10-7 is he acknowledges 9 wins is very likely not making the playoffs this year. Last year’s 7 seed won 11 games. This year 6-4 Detroit is currently the 8 seed. Let me repeat that again: 7 teams already have a better record than the Lions. If you somehow beat all odds and out-win the lions, you’re still missing the playoffs.

So at minimum, Dallas needs 10 wins (maybe more) to make the playoffs, as well as 2-3 teams to collapse. 10-6-1. Dallas currently has 5 losses. That means they have to go 7-1 in their final 8 games. For context, Denver has the best record in football and started 6-2. so Dallas needs a better 8 game run than Denver, better than LAR, better than LAC, better than Detroit, better than Philadelphia, better than Seattle, better than Tampa, better than New England.

Dallas also has to win big punchups against the Chargers. And also against the eagles. And also against the Chiefs. And also against the Lions. And then also beat teams with similar records in Minnesota and Washington and NYG.

In order to make the playoffs this season, you have to turn to Kenneth Murray and Kaiir Elam and Malik Hooker and Daron Bland and Donovan Wilson and say, “For 2 months you have to play like the single greatest football team on planet Earth.”

But, until you’re eliminated, there’s hope

They have no shot.

They likely need go 7-1.

Ain’t happening. Jerry built a crap roster and his bandaid fixes were too late.

His arrogance torpedoed another season. And he’ll do it again next offseason. Because he’s a mediocre GM with an ego the size of the Grand Canyon with no threat of ever being fired.

I can't see us being any better than 8-8-1, and that's if everything goes right. If the new additions have a major impact this year. Assuming scheme isn't part of the problem.

Realistically, we'll win 2-3 more games this year depending on what happens against the Raiders. We're not going 10-6-1 any more than the Raiders are.

Even if the defense is fixed, I'm a bit concerned at how the offense just stalls out. Sure, the Broncos have a legit defense, but vs the Bears the 2nd half the offense just stopped producing. vs the Cardinals, they also just couldn't match Jacoby Brissett...

Like I hope too the team could go on a run till Feburary, but at the same time from what we've seen the offense can somehow shoot themselves in the foot too

How will this team come out and play, we've got some rest, we're getting some new players on this defense, getting guys back from injury. How much help will this be? Of course coog we need to see the game first, well that's fine, but let's think this out!!!! Hoping that they can get the defense together and the offense continues to use our big weapons in the passing game, and use our running game to help control drives. Our O-line has to be better, we have to limit the stupid drive killing penalties we seem to have at the most wrong of times.

I'm hopeful that things can get better, I refuse to believe that we're a GREAT after playing just one game well. We need to be consistent and play hard the rest of the way going forward!! Welcome back Dallas Cowboys, let's at least give maximum effort and play smart football! Please give your thoughts

If you don't believe, you dont belong!!!!
Used that one, back in 2005. Picked to finish 7th in an 8 team district. Went undefeated....and won a playoff game. First time since 1961 for that town.
