One thing we are going to see often this season are the comparisons with McCarthy and Moore and their respective QB's.

And Moore detractors, say what you will, Prescott had his best years with Moore as his OC. Now, he will have one of the top 5 young guns and all the coverage he will need because of his past ties with the Cowboys and the media is chomping at the bit to start the comparisons. That, is going to be the top Cowboys story this season and it is made to order for ESPN and NFLN.

There are two young guns coming up in this draft and owners and GM's will be looking to get a HC-QB marriage like Reid-Mahomes and Pederson-Lawrence because those two QB's are not where they are without those two HC's. No HC allows a QB to be himself more than Reid.

The Chargers could be faced with either promoting Moore to HC or watching him leave. Staley was supposed to be the connection to Herbert but it may be Moore that shines with him.

I know a lot blame Moore and do not like his style but he is the future of the NFL because it is all about the QB and what HC's can best connect with them are going to be in high demand. Look how much DEN just paid Payton, all based on his connection to Brees.
Moore as HC material in 2024?
Based on what, Moore's 9-8 record in 2023?
Look at his schedule. Brutal it is matey.

McCarthy has led a team to a Superbowl victory....

Moore has called pass plays on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th down and short or goal to go in games our running backs were averaging 5 and 6 yards a carry.....

Moore shouldn't be even mentioned in the same breath as McCarthy. Moore has a low IQ in-game awareness and calls a very predictable game plan. He's not intelligent enough to emphasize the things the opposition can't stop.

This conversation is over.
:lmao2:
What arrogance generic boy.

This kid reminds me of a Young Bill Belichick.
Just a feeling that by the time he is done with the NFL, he will have quite of résumé accomplished.
Anyone who can have the # 1 offense with such an inept QB and owner/GM is impressive indeed.
GL Kellen and Happy Hunting with the Herbert man!!!!

I know hiring young guys as HC has become popular, but I think experience is still very important.

Like KM as a OC
Doubt he'll be effective HC kind of like Norval

It sure would be strange to see a new Dallas first round QB drafted and Moore brought back to Dallas as HC to coach him up.
Or maybe it wouldn't be that strange.

Big fan of Moore, and of the Chargers.

But honestly...I don't see Moore as head coach material. I was watching him at the podium for a Chargers press conference earlier today and I again was confirmed in my opinion. Kellen isn't an alpha. He seemed uncomfortable with the mic in front of him and a small group of reporters.

Moore's best future, IMO, is as an offensive coordinator, not as a high profile leader of men.
To pretend you have to be an alpha to succeed is an inaccurate and oversold viewpoint. So-called alpha's are usually compensating and fronting to hide their low self-image and are typically only looking out for themselves.

For a coach and coordinator, if we're dumbing it down to simplistic personality types, a Sigma type makes a better coach...

I am looking forward to it because I do not recall one like this before. They let the OC walk off back-to-back 12 win seasons and top 3 offensive rankings.

And while Moore has really said nothing, McC has insinuated this was on Moore.

But this duo already owns a first for me when McC admitted after that first playoff loss that not only didn't he get involved in the offensive game plan and calling, he didn't even know Moore's playbook. He's an offensive HC and that's one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Only thing that makes sense to me is McC was told to stay out of Moore's way.

Now, I wonder how vocal McC was to Booger about Moore once the season ended? Did he help sell Booger that he would be a better play caller?
I think the Jones saw 2 straight years of a good offense struggle badly in the playoffs vs SF. I think some combo of Mike blaming KM play calling, probably suggested he would do it better and the fact that Mike would rather bet on himself going into the last year of his contract. Mike took this job thinking he wouldn't have to do much, now he'll earn a paycheck.

This thread is a premature promotion of a guy that wore out his welcome in Dallas. If he had been worthy of the praise some of you seem to be giving him, he would still be in Dallas. Now you want to suggest he is HC material somewhere in the NFL? That's not happening. Any team that is gullible enough to appoint KM as their HC will quickly regret it.

It was about scapegoating and saving his butt. Ultimately it’s probably more about deflecting and protecting Prescott who Jethro is determined to prove was the right decision. I’m not sure anyone is safe.

Coach Opie!! I think he would be a better college coach. They don't play defense in college anymore.
Good luck to him, he's got talent and should have a bright future, if he forgets what he learned from Garrett. Because, Garrett sucks.

The season before last the defense was absolutely culpable in the loss. They gave up nearly 250 yds rushing. You can't blame Kellen or Dak for that. Dak had a bad game last year vs the 49ers. Let's see how he bounces back.
Dallas gave up 169 yds rushing in the loss to SF at Dallas. Not 250. Now, 169 isn't great but a far cry from 250. Also only allowed SF to rush for 113 last yr in SF. Defense has been respectable, offense has been a no-show in the playoffs

You're right I was thinking of the Rams game before that but it still stands we gave up 169 thats not good but the Defense has definitely improved under DQ. I think the ability to stop the run is still suspect but the new interior lineup looks promising.

Does the OC make the QB or the QB make the OC?

Dak had success under Linehan, then continued with Moore.

Aikman was starting to pay well with David Shula as OC. But it was Norv Turner that really got that offense going. Or was it that everything just came together.
