We were 27th in "extra blockers" last season, which means that, per pass play, we kept an extra guy or guys in to block more than 26 other teams. Even so, we still gave up a great amount of pressures, that Romo was mostly responsible for not turning into sacks. We got the yardage we did because our defense got teams off the field, then with that extra pass protection and despite pressure our passing game got into a rhythm, which in turn opened up the run game.Apluz;3523618 said:The line gets a lot of flak because of the Vikings game and the way it has played thus far in pre-season. But the line was playing great for the majority of last season.
You can't complain about our run blocking for last season. We were one of the best in the league running the ball. Trust me, we don't set team yardage records not being able to block.
Solution;3523609 said:I'm not saying its not Gurode, but can someone explain to me why he's so overrated? 2 all-pro awards and 4 probowls (I think so at least). Wheres the logic, cuz I definitely don't watch the center position enough to know just how good or bad he is. Just about the only time I hear his name called is when he's making wild snaps.
Anyways, I see people who think Gurode is pretty terrible on this forum a lot, but I never really see the reasons why. Someone care to enlighten me please?
Even tho I agree, good luck trying to sell that idea.Bob Sacamano;3523594 said:Our line even had struggles with Sparano. I remember everyone badmouthing him then because of the line. It's Gurode, y'all.

baj1dallas;3523651 said:He's not terrible. People just get all bent out of shape any time anybody does something wrong. He's a better than average center, decent pass blocker, good run blocker. You can't judge a veteran based on preseason with a makeshift line and ignore the years prior.

Bob Sacamano;3523652 said:Decent pass-blocker? Dude still acts like he's never seen a stunt in his life. He's terrible blocking on the move. Dude is just bad.
Just go back to his 2nd year here when Parcells said dude got distracted by his best friend on the line. Torrin Tucker of all people.
Bob Sacamano;3523642 said:He goes to the Pro Bowl even though he's dumb, largely due to the fact that noone can name more than 2 to 3 good centers in the entire league. I'll admit. He looked great in '07, but since then has been living on his rep.
baj1dallas;3523659 said:He's a better pass blocker that the other centers in the division.
Solution;3523661 said:He was an all-pro in 2009 if I'm not mistaken - I don't really care about pro bowls, but all-pro awards aren't something to scoff at. Your right that not many can name good centers (nick mangold is the only one I can even think of), but considering coaches and players vote on pro bowls too, saying that fans are dumb doesn't quite explain his pro bowls sufficiently.

Players only vote for their own conference. It's nfc vs. afc.Bob Sacamano;3523664 said:Players don't know about other players outside of their conference. Because they aren't paying attention to them, so half their votes don't even hold water.
