Houston Astros 2012 Thread

So you have the upbeat, sunny, and happy Rangers thread......so I felt the need to start a doom and gloom thread.....

Nice way to start off the season 5-3 loss. I wonder if the Stros will have 100 losses this year. I will say this, they are more likely to lose 100 than win 100.

I long for the days of the Killer B's.....I miss Bagwell and Biggio.

To be honest, I don't even watch baseball anymore cause my two favorite players have retired and the Astros just haven't developed any talent and put forth anything worth rooting for over the last few years. I mean they don't even have a true face of the franchise.......They are in a pitiful state right now.....I hope it changes soon, but I doubt it....ugh

Obviously patience is going to be required, not just for the club but for the whole system.

I don't think the former regime did the present team any favors by weakening the farm system... And it's going to take time to rebuild. It's like what the Nationals have gone through.

All you can do is appreciate the wins when they come, keep one eye on how the kids are doing in the minors and keep the other towards the future.

I don't think they will be as bad as some people think. They are very young so this year is just about seeing who will be a player that can stick around. The farm weak right now but better then it has been. The new owner is finally going to put money into scouting so that should help with drafting.

It depends upon how quickly they rebuild their farm system. Could be years & years. Hard to say.

even if we finish in the basement and have 100 losses....at least we can say we had a winning streak and were above .500 during the season.

I will say one thing about this team....they have no stars...they do not strike fear into the opposition or intimidate in any way....but in 3 games, I have noticed that they are a scrappy bunch. These guys have fight in em.

I like the fact they are looking at these young players and I think there is a good chance some will develop into quality players. Astro GM Jeff Luhnow who was a big part in the Cards organization in terms of getting talent I think will be a big help to Houston as they look to rebuild the farm league teams as well as adding talent to the big league roster.

I don't expect this to happen overnight

What happened to the Braves defense last night, 4 errors? That is very un-Bravelike.

I will take it though........if we can win today, we secure our second series win of the season...
