Just heard his interview with Terico (sp?) and Van Pelt. I know he's trying to pimp his players out, but he provided some good info on DMac and Jones.

DMAC:
  • very good student of the game and loves practice. Most college players hit a wall and think they have nothing left to learn. Not the case with DMAC.
  • Off-the-field problems came when he went back home. It wasn't that he did something wrong, but he was in the wrong place at the wrong time trying to help a family member.
  • Very community oriented. Did a lot of community service projects (not related ot off-the-field issues) while at Arkansas and would stop and sign autographs whenever asked.
  • Very explosive back. Compared him to the likes of great college players like Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas. Nutt was an asstant at OSU when Sanders and Thomas went through.
Jones
  • Has great vision on returns. Sees the field better than any he coached and can see things before they happen.
  • Extremely physical player. Always took on ends in pass protection.
  • Can carry the load more than people expect. He was in a position at Arkansas where he didn't have to.
  • May not have the break away speed of DMAC, but can certainly take it to the house at any time.
  • Great vision when coming out of the backfield. Can move lateral and then bust the seam when it opens.
  • Was an All American before McFadden was.
Just some food for thought when tomorrow rolls around. I don't think DMAC is an option because of the cost, but if Jones is there at 22 or 28, I would love to have him on the team.

So who do you choose between Stewart and F Jones?

It is closer than most think imho.

Felix Jones is right there on the cusp of being ideal physically. He has very good size and vision. Nice size and shiftiness.

I think people severely underrate him.

Stewart is a special athlete but 240 pounds makes it hard to slide through holes or off of tackles, you have to do a Barberian and run over them.

I would take Jones because he's more of the change of pace back the Boys are looking for. Stewart's a great player and runner, but I don't think he fits what the Boys are wanting. He's more of a between the tackles runner, like MBIII.

If we take Stewart, I certainly wouldn't be pounding my head up against the wall. We'd just more of a power running game than the option Jones would bring.

Also we have to think about the return game. I don't see Stewart doing that. If we take Kelly or Sweed at WR, they don't answer than question. Jones could provide the return man we need and a solid complement to MBIII.

I agree it's closer than some think. The only thing Stewart has over Jones is size. So it comes down to do you want another power back or a scat back.

Give me jones. You don't become that successful in the SEC without having skills. I think stewart will be gone by 22 anyway.

I like them both and would be happy with either but between the 2 I would lean more towards F. Jones

Stewart is a very good return man also

What's wrong with that? If MBIII gets hurt, do you really want a scat/back, changeofpaceback, smallback replacing him?

Hammer em with MBIII....then Hammer em with Stewart...and, Stewart has the shiftiness and speed to take it to the house...he's faster than Jones.

Again....Why? Is Austin a crappy returner or something? Detroit had NO ANSWER for him.

I watch all the Razorback games. Jones would fit nicely in a system like the Broncos run. One-cut and go. He's not as shifty as many think. He goes down fairly easily too. He has pretty good vision and nice speed.....I wouldn't put a gun to my head if we took him....but I'd much rather have Stewart.

Stewart ran a 4.48 at the combine, Jones ran a 4.47......

I've never seen Stewart in the return game, but then again, I haven't seen too many Oregon games.

But, Jerry has said all along they want a complimentary back, not a similar back. I just don't see Stewart wearing a star. I'm not against it, I just don't think he fits what the boys are wanting.

What's wrong with having more than one option?

If the Pacman deal gets done then having a return man is not going to be an issue and it will not be Austin or Stewart

and just like the person that posted Ray Rice's combine 40 time, I dont care

look at them on the field with pads on...and this just doesnt apply to these guys, everyone gets hung up on what somebody's 40 time is in shorts and a t-shirt indoors...I'm more interested in what I see on the field during games...ssome players 40-time speeds show up on the field, some dont...some players play faster than their actual 40 times, and some dont

and Jones flat our flies on the field

Then you still have Austin. I don't think Dallas is looking at RB to find a return man. I think part of Pacman being here is his ability as a top return man as well as a CB

Add to that Jones has produced in a very tough conference against some top run stopping defenses.

0.o

Why are you saying this to me? I defended Jones. He said "Stewart is faster" and I gave him evidence that he isn't.
