How about Brett Maher?

Maher's a keeper. Take into consideration the cowboys ability to recognize and develop kickers over the years. And you don't replace one of the most accurate kickers in the league unless you see him as a special talent (granted Bailey was showing signs of regression late last season). Trust this fo when it comes to kickers.

where are all the haters? wheres that post , someone find the hate link, that Jerry and JG would rue the day they cut Baily.. Regardless of Bretts long term future, its was the right choice purely because of Bailys injury history, declining skills and 3.1 million dollar contract vs 480k ..Even if Maher wasn't perfect just average it was still worth it..the Dan Bialy is done, he got Nick Folked..if BM can just be 80% its still better than a lot of the other kickers in the league..

Nobody will ever give Garrett credit but boy did he nail this one so far.
To be honest, Bailey has been good thus far as well for the Vikings...he's missed two kicks but overall he's been great for them. If we had gone with Bailey I think we'd be just as well off...except we do save salary with this kid. The rest of the season will tell if it was the right move.

He's a good kicker, but can he hit like Chris Jones?
I don't know about the "hitting" part, but he can punt (maybe not to the level of Jones, but he is a decent punter). Heaven forbid anything happen to Jones in a game, but if it were to happen, Maher could step in and keep the team afloat in that area.

This also wasn't a move just for this year. 2 or 3 years will decide.

93.75% on field goals so far. Not too bad. I'll be interested to see how he does when it gets cold (eagles and Giants) later in the season.
