How about instead of penalty yardage if you commit two flags in a game you're ejected

Speeds the game up. Limits flags. Increases big plays for both sides of the ball. I haven't thought this through don't get sassy build on my idea.

Two of any penalty? Could you imagine if your starting LT got his second false start and they sent him to the locker room. Or a hold and a false start? Would they have to be two of the same penalty? I'll be honest, I'm not even sure what it means to commit a flag.

How about we hide the flags ahead of the game so the refs can't find them? Not sure any team would go for the ideal of having a player ejected because of 2 penalties in a game.

No it would not work. I would abandon the nfl. You take your best players out for a false start or holding. You would need to expand the roster to at least 100 players. The quality of the game would go down. Shouldn't this be a off topic forum conversation?

People say officials have too much control of the game now. What if a phantom holding call could actually get one of your best players ejected?

Really, this is probably the worst idea I've ever read. I tried to build on it, but I just can't think of any upside at all.

Hmm, maybe in-action flags? You hold three times you suck anyway go sit down.

Or maybe a flag results in a benching for the rest of the series

I think personal fouls should be penalized in a range from 15 yds to loss of possession if it's a horrible flagrant foul.

Changing the topic a bit here:

I always hated off-setting fouls. Let's say the defense gets a personal foul while the offense holds or something. Just take the difference......15-10 yds means a 5 yd gain for the offense, the down may or may not count

They have a new rule that 2 personal fouls is an ejection.

Plenty of players get 2 penalties in a game. You can't start kicking players out for that, especially when the refs are so often wrong.

The way to speed up the game is to have Video Refs that constantly view the game and that can call or cancel penalties on the fly. Have the video ref or refs, talking directly to the head ref on the field and give the video ref power to overrule the on-field refs. Just think about how many replays we see of a controversial play in just a few seconds. They need to force a coach to throw a red flag and challenge a play. The video ref can do it on the fly.

Yes, they currently have guys that review the plays under certain conditions, but it's just a review. They should have be viewing it all along and already know what happened with just a couple of rewinds which should only take the same amount of time that runs off between plays anyway. I can rewind on the DVR multiple times to see a play long before the next play is run.

Sorry don't think it is a good idea

It is actually. The NFL is experimenting with the idea of in game ads this week and ratings are down due to slow paced games. Sponsors are paying less Bc people are zipping through games on their DVr.

The brilliance of this is, or forced officials to call less flags per game. The regulations for what constitutes a flag will be loosened.

And then henceforth you'll see bigger plays. Guy can't waste a foul in the first quarter and then he'll accidentally let a defender go free and we get sack + fumble. A defensive back can't get a tacky holding call and receivers will be more open.

Certain penalties don't offset I believe. I'm pretty sure a personal foul overrides a holding call.

Edit: By that I mean say the DL commits a personal foul, and the OL commits a holding. I'm almost positive in that case they ignore the holding call and enforce the personal foul only.

That's the only instance I can think of that penalties aren't offset though (personal fouls)

True, bad example but there are many that don't have equal yardage penalties. I am not sure if a PF overrides a hold or not, seems I have seen them offset before

Ejection after two flags would likely cause too many teams to lose valuable players that otherwise might be needed by their teams. I can easily recall quite a few instances where we'd have lost Witten or some of our o-linemen after they had invited two flags.

Just looked it up, they will offset if both are committed during a live play. If it's a deadball personal foul, they don't offset and it's enforced.

But what if you have two offensive linemen false start in a game multiple times and get tossed? How would a team finish a game? How many Cowboys fans would like to see Tyron Smith get ejected for holding twice in the first half?

Forcing officials to call less penalties is a bad idea; because some players will see the advantage to intentionally knock somebody out of a game, etc..

This just isn't feasible on so many levels.
