Looks pretty good. Nice TD.

I was hoping to see the wildcat again right before half when the Cowboys got into the redzone. But, there was only 20 seconds left and no timeouts left. Had there been more time, I think the Cowboys would have used the wildcat again there.

I was wondering if the Cowboys were going to go with the wildcat to close out the game when they needed to run the clock out. Needing a few first downs and time off the clock, might the wildcat be a better option?

It would be nice to see Choice throw from the wildcat. Perhaps if the Cowboys could blow out Oak or Wash early, maybe Choice and the Cowboys can experiment with the wildcat during the latter part of those games.

That wasn't really a Wild Cat...but it was a pretty good play.

I hate the Wildcat I can't wait till it goes away.

Let's not try to overdo what's working just fine... no need to start getting cute. Focus and finish

I like the play down by the goal line. one thing is by getting the direct snap he is able to see where the opening and hit it much easier than trying to adjust on the run when taking the handoff from the QB.

Henceforth and forever more, it shall be known as the "YellowJacket" formation.

If you hate the Wildcat then you hate America!

I liked seeing it, and it was successful so of course we immediately stopped doing it.

The TD run was vintage WC, the most thorough example you'll find (pulling guard and all).

The Wildcat ain't going away. Sorry to say. It even could be the future. I'm guessing that by the start of next season, every team will have some form of it and use it a little.

Yea, people keep saying it's new, but it's one of the oldest football tactics in the game. I dunno who dubbed it the "Wildcat" (I guess one of the Dolphins' assistants), but if they'd just called it the "Single-T" (which it basically is) we wouldn't hear the media obsess about it half as much as they do.

The Wildcat has a qb on the field...i don't think we did, and I think we only had 1 lineman to the right of the center and then a TE, but that might have been the 3rd down play I can't remember.

Yes it will. It's what teams did way back in the early years of the game and teams figured out a way to stop it. They will figure out a way to stop it again.

Does that mean the bubble screen to Ogletree will never be seen again. Just like the screen pass to Barber. Or the screen to any RB.

There is no reason not to keep using this crazy formation, because it makes one more thing defenses have to study on film. Even if all we can get is 5 to 10 yards like yesterday it still keeps them off balance.

I don't know that a "QB" is necessary, it's more the action of the snap receiver after the snap. The Dolphins don't frequently keep their QB on the field during plays, for instance. Also, the unbalanced line (which we did employ at the goal line) is defintely a characteristic of the WC.

I think that's precisely why it won't go away though. It's been here before and just fell out of use. when teams fell in love with the forward pass (not necessarily a bad thing). Besides, teams will just use whatever works. If the wildcat does stop being effective, then teams will stop using it. I don't know why you'd stop using it if you had the personnel for it though, like the Dolphins do. The Eagles, however, might want to quit it.

Edit: That is to say, it will drop in popularity as all things go. Remember in the mid-90s how the "west coast offense" was used by just about everyone? All football tactics fall in and out of favor, don't think the WC is any different.

The "Wildcat" to me, is when a RB takes a direct snap usually via shotgun. Sometimes the QB is on the field and other times he is not. That is what I see as "Wildcat" today.

Pretty soon someone will have a WR take a direct snap and run wide with it or throw it.

Even DBs can get into the action offense.

Hmm I thought the unbalanced line was something else. But it does feel to me like every time there is a direct snap people are way too quick to say wildcat, which is annoying.

And I definitely think it will fall out of favor when teams figure out how to beat it again.

The Dolphins don't use an unbalanced line (I think), but I know a bunch of college teams do.

Think the Dolphins don't have very good blocking TEs, something the Cowboys have in abundance.

I think that is one of the few times that we have run "it" well at all.

I don't care what they call it,,, the fact that this team went out there and executed this special formation so well was exciting to see. Most teams go out there and screw it up, but the 'boys had some dominant runs using it,,, I expect the red headed genius will revisit this tactic soon and often.

I liked it, hoping they keep it in the play book. Having an extra blocker is a big advantage.
