it works but we have had a lot of penalties running it which have negated big gains.i dont know why they are holding or false starting when there is no Qb in the play.

That wasn't really a Wild Cat...but it was a pretty good play.

I hate the Wildcat I can't wait till it goes away.

Right..it was a direct snap to Choice playing in the QB spot. Everyone knew where the ball was going and 99% sure he was going to run....just which way, and mostly likely the shortest path....up the middle....and it worked and we loved it.....but nothing wild about it.

Gives some teams something to think about though.

Except for the unbalanced play last night, this is no different than what Chan Gailey had Choice do quite a bit his Sr. season at Tech.

Basically, no QB and a direct snap to Choice who makes a read off the line's zone blocking.

IIRC, he never threw it in college, the D knew he wasn't going to throw, but it was still surprisingly effective. He'd get 5-7 yards each time he ran it. Never a big gainer, but never no gain. Just make a read and hit the hole.

The "Wildcat" to me, is when a RB takes a direct snap usually via shotgun. Sometimes the QB is on the field and other times he is not. That is what I see as "Wildcat" today.

That's the way it's being used, certainly - any play with a direct snap to a RB is called a Wildcat, whether or not it shares any of the other features.

I really thought all the Wildcat talk in the offseason was a red herring... Glad it wasn't if it's going to work like that.

I have to say it again -- it's not a gimmick at all, it's just good old-fashioned single-wing power football. Really, as physical as our O-line is and with Cricket showing massive improvement this year, we're built to do it. Just line up and bulldoze people.

Thanks for the point on Choice running it in college. I still wonder if he can't throw the ball a little and that's why they're having him do it.

How cool is it that a lot of pundits were saying how scary Vick would be in the wildcat, and ours outplayed theirs?

If you hate the Wildcat then you hate America!

I liked seeing it, and it was successful so of course we immediately stopped doing it.

I am just not that comfortable with the wildcat. Maybe it will grow on me. It just does not make much sense to me to take Romo out of the play and line him up outside. I don't see any Choice to Romo connections in our future, so most teams I think would/should focus on the run.

I am all in favor of a few direct snaps to the RB and quick hitting run plays.

I hear we actually call it the Razorback. But since Choice is always the one running it, shouldn't it be the Yellow Jacket?

Choice is really showing that he is the most versatile back of the group. I'd like to see that formation with Felix in there too. But I think Choice makes so much of his opportunities that man, it almost sucks to have Barber and Felix.. Ok wait, it doesn't suck to have Barber and Felix LOL But y'know what I mean.

*THIS* is a nice dilemma to have: Dallas has 3 very good RBs, how do you get them involved as much as possible?

Garrett did smart to stay away from the run last night because Philly was blitzing like crazy. They were loading up the box. But even then, any of these 3 guys can be gang busters on screens. I think the more they're involved in a game, the better.
