How are you distributing 64 offensive plays?

OK, lets see.......I'm thinking
35 plays to RBs
Zeke getting 20-25 touches
Pollard a min 10

29 plays to receivers

10 targets = Coop
10 targets = Gallup
5 targets = Lamb
4 targets = Jarwin

Of course, these are interchangeable week-to-week and/or as the season goes on. For example, by mid-season Lamb may see his average targets increased to 8-10 but at who expense, Zeke, Coop, Pollard? Also, I'm there are where Dak may run 3-4 times. Either way, I've never really looked the offense this way as a whole until now. It highlights the ole saying, there's only so many balls. To say each player needs to take care of business WHEN his number is called is an understatement.

  • Falcons OC Dirk Koetter expects a "minimum" of 15 weekly touches for Todd Gurley.
"You're going to have 64 plays in a game on average on offense," Koetter reasoned. "Depending on where you're at in the season and wear and tear, I think the low is 15 and maybe the high end 25." They are refreshingly realistic estimates. Coaches often speak as if they have no idea how many plays their team runs in a given week. 15-20 weekly handles would be more than enough for Gurley to cash in his high-end RB2 ADP.

I will be shocked if team with these 3 WR's and Zeke finds a way to get Pollard more than 4-5 touches. Although I like the idea of using 20 personnel and motioning Pollard to the slot to be the 4th wr. The targets and touches will change every week but I think they will be a 55/45% pass/run offense So 25-30 carries for both backs.

I like your breakdown. I would add that Dak should have about 3 rushes a game. I really would like to see the Cowboys ease up on those carries to Zeke. They should have a 3rd RB that can get goal line carries and play special teams. Zeke is dam good but extend his effectiveness. He doesnt need to rush the ball 30 times a game against the Commanders. Let someone else take the beating and then use Zeke more against a team like Seattle. I hated watching Zeke take himself out of the game when Dallas crossed into opponents half of the field.

It really depends on the opponent. Kellen will most likely employ a balanced attack until the defense reveals its own weakness and then he'll exploit those weaknesses for all they are worth. Whatever works, right?

I would take 5 away from Gallup and them to the #2 TE and #4 WR

I really want to see Dak get that crossing route timing figured out this year otherwise it may be enough evidence to say he won’t . Also need receivers to catch the dang ball even if throws aren’t perfect .

With that in mind it depends on opponent . With our threat of the 3 WR set zeke should flourish ( he needs more big runs).

the one thing I want to see is less predictability it’s a shame that Garrett or Moore was so stupid in the Minnesota and New England last year. Different play calling wins both of those games

lastly I want to see Dak take advantage of his legs more like 2016

Just wondering -- to what extent is the staff likely to consider what we think about how the offensive load should be distributed? o_O

depends on opponent, defense game plan and in game situation.

I’m more concerned with being aggressive with our offense early. But that’s game by game as well.

hopefully dak will learn to throw the ball.

alas......a rational opinion.

15 carries for Zeke
10 touches for Pollard (rushing and passing)
9 passes to the top 3 receivers and Jarwin
3 qb runs for Dak

well based off the last few years, we’ll be as predictable as possible. So while I prefer your approach, I can’t rule out the opposite

Love Gallup but I’m targeting Lamb even more

IF a rookie ( w/o preseason ) is seeing more targets than your starting player WRs, either something gone wrong or something great is happening. I mean it's great if he elevates his game to that level but what does that say for your starter.
