How bad was Fox's coverage of the game?

I'm sorry, he was a great Cowboy but I can't stand Moose as an announcer. He's such a blowhard, he just expounds on his overdone points and completely ignores whatever is going on the field between plays as far as penalties and injuries. Every game I hear with Moose there are at least 3-4 penalties that I completely miss or don't know what was called because he just keeps talking, and talking, and talking, and talking while the referee is giving the call. A lot of times the play by play guy can't do his job because Moose keeps talking well into the plays.

I agree. I love Moose, but not as much as he loves the sound of his own voice. Just shut up once in awhile, wouldya DJ?

The announcers have the responsibility to tell us what the call was that we missed, then. And the producers have the responsibility to give us a replay.

On the second penalty, though - that isn't the case. They were never at commercial - we just got a shot of the whole field while Moose rambled, and you vaguely heard the referee announcing a penalty in the background.

I agree, but I am not sure that they got a lot of the replays. It seemed to me that they didn't have enough cameras. Maybe the Fox crew had airplane troubles as well......:laugh2:

Funny how people can have such differing opinions on any given subject. I personally think Moose is one of the best broadcasters in the booth. He is articulate, professional, and I enjoy his commentary. I thought his comments about the dirt infields were pretty enlightening. I would much rather he talked over Kenny Albert anyway... LOL

Moose is definitely articulate and professional, but he is a blowhard.

Yeah - Moose bothered me, and i thought they blew some things, but honestly, the producer should be fired. The game cuts were awful, not enough cameras, etc.

Okay...were they PURPOSELY not mentioning the real reason behind the Owens touchdown celebration goalpost/camera bit???? Surely one of those guys, esp. Darryl Johnston, should have gotten the joke?

If not...man. That's pretty sad that they really didn't get the joke. Dang.

Pretty sure he got the joke, he had said earlier that he wasn't going to talk about BB or the videotaping. I cannot stand the showboating that these receivers do in fact it was one of the reasons I didn't want TO, but him hiding behind the post and taping was flat out funny. I thought it was worth the penalty.

Maybe he really didn't get it. That celebration sure seems obvious to alot of people and yet, there are several who don't know what he was trying to do. I won't bash the announcers for not getting it. Shoot, even the analysts doing the highlights still don't know what he did.

As for the broadcast, maybe I just don't analyze things as closely as others or maybe I was a bit distracted. Either way, I don't have anything to complain about.

What was up with the clock operator, the clock would be running at stoppage of play, then it would not start when the play started.

There would be a stoppage of play and you would look up and the clock would be going up or down, all of a sudden it would be adjusted.

Seemed like it happened alot.

On the play Romo scrambled for 18 yards Fox had it has 4th down when it was only 3rd down.

BTW im listening to the ticket right now (espn radio isnt working for some reason) and they are hammering the coverage so for those of us who realise how bad it stunk yesterday we're not alone.

And Doomsday I too see things usually when they happen and yesterday I didn't see it and didnt even know if there was anything to be seen with the camera view given.

Its there job to let me know whats going on and they failed.

Downs and distance were messed up. And on top of all that the picture and audio in my area was in and out for most of the game.

Fox was nothing short of horrible yesterday.

One second it was second and 22.

Then Romo scrambled, and it was second and 1.

Bizarre. And I have no idea why it was second and 22 in the first place.

And it was actually 1st and 22. How the heck was it 1st and 22?

We were called for a crack back block but I don't know what the yardage was unless it was half the distance to the goal.

They wouldn't even tell me what the penalties were. The down and distance was wrong on the screen half the time.

Nobody can figure out TO's end zone celebration.

On top of all that the picture and audio kept popping on and off.

Fox HAS to step their game up bad because yesterday wasn't worthy of the muppet baby's much less the Dallas Cowboys. :bengals:

I thought he was reeling in a fish (dolphin) because his head was next to the Dolphin Logo on the pad.

I used to like these guys the best, but they are definitely a distant second, if that, to Troy now.

They never even bothered to give an injury report or to check on it...we never heard a single word about Crayton until he showed up on the field to return the punt.

Every now and then you get a production crew that just stinks...no research, no facts, no game reports, and sometimes (which really shocks me nowadays) no freakin' replays of key plays the announcers are actually discussing.

I thought it was a lousy job, but don't know whom to blame.

I thought the overall broadcast was fair, at best. There were a number of instances in which a replay would have been nice and there were a couple of times the Cowboys were penalized and not a single person in the broadcast crew explained what happened. Unfortunately, that is more typical of "today's" NFL broadcasts, particularly, when you have a three man crew (or Madden who talks enough for two people) and they have to talk about such pertinent issues as how many hot dogs Siragusa ate at half-time.

The lack of replays really made me wonder if they actually have anyone in the production trailer that watches football...So many times where a replay would've been appropriate, there was nothing...The lack of explanation of penalties really speaks to how out of depth the commentating crew was (No offense, Moose)...I like Moose and some of his Dallas insights but apart from that, very little in the way of analysis...Felt like a couple of buddies watching the game.

So, yeah, Fox was weak on the broadcast

At one point the last commercial in a series was a jeep commercial. They came back after the commercial and kicked off or something, but it was for less than five minutes. When they went back to commercial, IT WAS THE EXACT SAME ONE.

The producer for that show screwed up.

More than that, I'd like to know why some producers show the exact same commercial back to back during the same break.

Then don't watch it, I don't watch the Cowboy game for the broadcast I watch the game and understand the game I don't need someone explaining every single detail to me. If you did not like it then sorry I had no issue with the coverage

Not everyone that watches a football game has intricate knowledge of every call or every play. While I love watching football, I'm positive that I don't have as much knowledge about it as some.

Personally, I appreciate being able to hear the ref's penalty explanations. If I happen to miss it for whatever reason, I can always hear the explanation and be right back with the game.

I don't feel like anyone that doesn't watch the game with rapt, slack-jaw attention and a savant-like knowledge of the game should be denied the courtesy of play explanation and commentation that the tv talking heads are paid to provide.

I blame the problems on the camera and production crew falling asleep while Moose was droning on and on and on.
