How badly have we botched the offensive line?

We turned Collins from a stud LG into a below average RT, then we turned Green from an above average RT into a bad LG, then after he washes out at guard we expect him to drop right into playing LT without any issues? Now Collins is locked in at tackle since we overpaid him, and Green was hung out to dry after spending the offseason practicing and bulking up to play guard.

Sometimes it seems like the only people this coaching staff can outsmart is themselves.

Not sure Collins was ever a stud at LG- I think he is vastly overrated by our fans. And by our coaching staff.

But with you in the rest. It has been botched

I will say this; other teams have lost their LT and not give up 6 sacks at that position.
However Green was not the sum total of this games problems.
The drop off in able back ups is glaring.
There are way try and help a lineman who is struggling with pass protection.
Claiborne used the same move for the entirety of the game. Would’ve been nice to make him defend the run. He was basically taking himself wide on every snap. Run the ball at him or make him defend the read option to that side of the field.
6 sacks is ridiculous . How many times did we see teams cool off d ware using this tactic?

Collins was a stud LG? Serviceable maybe.

Green has played both OT positions for years and served as the swing OT long enough to step in during Smith's absence. He was terrible yesterday and clearly needed help from play calling and TE or FB. That is on Garrett.

Not sure Green struggling yesterday means the Cowboys botched the OL at all.

The eagles had a back-up LT give up 6 sacks in a game to the Gmen many years ago, to Osi Umenyori, IIRC. That was the last time I can recall such a thing.

Prior to this game, the last 4 games we've been the best O-Line in football.

What we botched was the handling of Green. Last year he played 3 games for Tyron at LT and was very solid. This game he was horrendous.

Why?

Because he looked like a guard moving out to the LT spot.

He has the foot quickness, but his technique, particularly with his hands is all off. The type of hand technique needed in pass pro is different at tackle than at guard and that's exactly what he looked like out there.

And this is all because we didn't like Cooper who has been far better at LG than Green was this season.

As far as Collins goes, he's not getting paid that much either way and is still a great value given his production. We need to get him a solid year at RT and he should get better and better. Remember, Tyron had struggles when he made the switch to LT, but after a year he got enough reps in and was a completely different player.

I just don't know what we were thinking with regards to our use of Green. To say 'well, he's more comfortable playing tackle' during the season and given how well Cooper has played is about as bad of an indictment on our staff as it is for not giving Green help yesterday.

I've seen teams lose 3-4 OL and game plan around it.

Linehan runs his offense. Period. Allowing some help at LT would have meant Scott would have had to change his play calls.

Yes we botched it. Moving Collins outside. Relying on Green for anything when he stays injured, not to mention moving him to guard. Green was a bad pick when it was made an it continues to haunt us. Randy Gregory and Jaylon Smith. I love Jaylon the kid but he should not be on the field. Those two misses could have turned into another offensive line pick for when Free and Leary left. That pick could have been a LB pick that would allow the front 7 to perform at the same level as when Lee is in. Lee as the same as Green, relying on a guy who is continually injured. Great player, potential HOF'er, just injured all the time, Lee.

Believe me, if Garrett wanted to give help to Green it would have been done.

This is about 2 guys who come into a game with a gameplan and refuse to adjust for when it's not working. They are 2 peas in a pod.

This!!! Other teams can make adjustments on the fly, but we wait until halftime to do anything. Yesterday we made no adjustments at half - weirdest thing I have ever seen. The refs missing a crap ton of face masks was par for the course, but their incredible ability to recognize borderline holding on our O-line when we're driving for a score is nothing short of amazing. No excuses though, the coaches blew this game and Dallas coaches blowing games is now the norm.

lol here we go with all of the sudden the OL is the problem. Collins is where he belongs. You do know that dallas was avg almost 200 yrds rushing per gamebefore yesterday right? The problem yesterday was Dallas was missing its all pro LT and all pro RB. And the coaches in all their wisdom gave up on the run after the first series. ATL couldnt stop the run when they went back to it.

I am not a 100% convinced with Pollack as the OL coach. I know the line has been described as the best in NFL the past few years, but with a better OL coach they would have been the best ever and much more dominant. It's like having an iPhone X and using it to only make voice calls.
