I keep seeing these reports from the sports writers and board posters that DMac never fumbles.... I say BS! I watched many games this season and I can recall a boat load of fumbles from just this season.

Ummm- I know he had 1 in the Kentucky game, 2 in the Chattanooga game, at least 1 in South Carolina game, 2 in LSU game, 1 in Missouri game, at least 1 in the Alabama game and 3, yes 3 in the Florida International game, and I know he had at least a couple more. Now he may not have lost them all, but he did in close to half of those fumbles. Point blank the guy puts the ball on the ground.

I wish people would get there information correct. Another stat thats kinda interesting is the fact that he was stopped for no gain or a loss on 44 plays. I could be off a few, but thats about right. But another thought is how many big plays he has done along with the ability to throw the ball.

I am not bashing DMac, I like him and think he will be very good. I just HATE false INFO!!!

Like I said in one of the other threads 15 fumbles, 5 recovered by the defense in 2007. People just fall in love with his homerun ability.

Exactly. You got people who've never seen him play an entire game and just look at his highlight reel and YPC stats and assume he's perfect.

Went to the box score for the Florida International game and he had 3 fumbles with 1 lost. Other box scores: Troy 2 fumbles 0 lost. Alabama 1 with 1 lost. Kentucky 1 with 0 lost. Chattanoga 2 with 2 lost. Ole Miss 1 with 0 lost. South Carolina 1 with 0 lost. LSU 3 with 1 lost. Missouri 1 with 0 lost.
That is a total of 15 fumbles with 5 lost. THAT is a problem.

Hmmm...I don't know who to believe, you or the espn national statistics line at http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=170928, which shows "0" fumbles in 2005, 2006,2007.

I'm going to guess that fumbling isn't an issue with anyone in the NFL.

What interests me is that he has a SERIOUS fumbling problem- at least as bad as Tiki used to have. AND no one was talking about it at all. It probably can be fixed- but maybe not= or maybe not without changing his style.

15 fumbles is a TON. Its on the verge of absurdity.

15 fumbles in season where he touched the ball 40 times a game or more is not that much. remember he played qb in the wild hog formation, returned kicks, and carried the ball. his fumbles per touch is not high at all.
i still would give up picks to move up for him but he is not a fumble problem

But NFL players are bigger and faster on average. It's always an adjustment for college players coming in. It's something else to add to the discussion, and for the price, probably a flag.

15 fumbles works out to more then 1 per game. There is NO way that is NOT a problem.

It is unheard of!

He was stopped an average of 13 percent behind the line of scrimmage or for no gain... I wonder how many times JJ was stopped, or Marion Barber for that matter?

Have you also considered the fact that the starting QB threw on average threw 20 passes a game, connecting on average only 11.5 times, which amounts to around a 53 completion percentage rate? These throwing numbers are college numbers. What this means is that their QB sucked.

It isn't just about his home-run ability. In 4 games he broke the 50 yard mark on TD runs. Other than that, his longest run was a 30 yarder, and his longest yards per game seem to hover around 20 yards. What this means is this guy is consistent runner to average 5.9 yards per carry his college years, and he is not just a home-run play-maker.

The defense of the team was predicated on stopping McFadden, and he still averaged these numbers.

I think McFadden will be an absolute SUPERSTAR in the NFL but there's no denying he had a major problem with fumbles this year. It's nothing that can't be corrected but he definitely needs to work on it.

Anyone can do that with great blocking. He's gonna be another Reggie Bush in the NFL. Without that blocking and all that room he had in college he won't make a difference.

once upon a time a pretty good rb named tiki barber used to have that same problem. once they showed him a new way how to hold the ball he became a top 3 rb

Reggie Bush can't run between the tackles, and, as far as I know, he was criticized for this coming out of college. They tried running him this year in-between the tackles, and his game suffered. Sean Payton was getting criticized for making him do what isn't his strong suit. McFadden runs North to South, and he refuses to dance. He also lowers his shoulder.

Reggie Bush had an offense loaded with talent, from a QB to the WR. McFadden doesn't have anybody.

How can anyone say that McFadden is gonna be another Reggie Bush?

I watched as many Hogs games as anybody outside of Fayetteville this season. As much as I loved D-Mac, he fumbled WAY too much this season. He didn't seem to have nearly as much as a problem with it his sophomore season. I don't know what the cause is, but it should be correctable.

They didnt need a QB, they were a big time running team that ran the ball down everyone's throats. He had a good O-Line and a super good back RB in Felix Jones. Why Jones gets no love is beyond me...
