How can I get a stray cat to stop hanging out in my yard?

Off topic, but there's a feral/stray/whatever that seems to love to hang out in my yard. I don't really want to have to trap this thing, but I just want it to go away. Any suggestions?

Let him be your buddy. Buy a laser pointer and a bag of weed and have some fun. Cats can be cool.
Oh, and feed the little fella.

"And now an opinion from the other end of the spectrum."
:omg:

Just sayin'... I have had a 20 lb. tabby cat for 8 years now. Everyone calls him my "dog".
He stays outside and keeps the critters away and sometimes he hangs out in the garage with me.
I'd love to have a dog but they require a good bit more attention.

Lol. I was just joking, because you're the first to suggest keeping it.

Get a big dog
Oh I'll come. But I won't come alone.

Catch and release. Catch it then release it where someone owns a barn. Problem solved. Next.

For those wanting to shoot it probably a bad idea unless your in the country..guy here got a year for shooting a stray dog. But probably because dogs are cuter, and gets all the soccer moms in an uproar

Mothballs. Animals hate them.
