How can Parsons buy a holding call?

LOL - "virtually" lends me all the legal protection required for that statement in a court of law. If it conforms to your sensibilities, how bout, "more times than not?"

I don't believe that's correct, either.

Just for you I went back just now and watched Chicago's first drive (four plays because of a penalty). They passed three times and rushed once. Only on one of the plays was Parsons possibly held, the final one where he was going around the outside of the LT and it looked like the LT hooked him around the neck.

Again, it's just hyperbole. I'm not going to go back and watch the whole game just to prove how much it is hyperbole, because statements like yours are just not worth that kind of effort. They are just unrealistic to the point that it obscures the reality of the point, that he gets held quite a bit without it being called.

I went and looked at what you looked at and on that play where you think Parsons could have been "possibly held" guess what move Parsons used to try to turn a corner on the LT. You guessed it. The "rip" technique. That's why the LT's arm goes around Parsons' neck and is the very reason spelled out as the exception in the rules. Was not a hold. Once Micah turned the corner on him the LT let go. Again, Micah uses that move a lot and with the exception in the rule, he is not going to get the benefit of the doubt unless he is taken to the ground or a hook is egregious. He didn't appear to know the exception that a hold away from the play's action won't be called but I sure hope he knows this exception because it's what he appears to do most. Fans will continue to whine but few know what they're even looking at in regards to the holding rule.

I put this in a new thread earlier….

I know many Cowboys fans think our opponents get away with holding way too much- especially on Micah Parsons. I mostly agree. So I found this NFL penalties website that logs each holding penalty called for each team at what point in the game.

According to the research I did there, the Cowboys have been called for offensive holding 6 times and our opponents have been called 9 times. Even though we may think it’s been “unfair”, our opponents have been flagged more than we have for offensive holding.

Here’s the link.
https://www.nflpenalties.com/penalty/offensive-holding?year=2022&view=log

As a side note, the NFL team with most holding penalties is the Seattle Seahawks with 12. As I mentioned earlier, the Cowboys have had 6.

ALL great players get held almost every play. I remember Bob Lily was held countless times as was Randy White, Charles Haley and DeMarcus Ware. This is not a new development.

I agree holding isn’t called enough for Parsons but this is not some new phenomenon. Watch Aaron Donald every week. They could call holding every play. When Lawrence Taylor played it was the same thing. When generational talent like Parsons hit the scene, holding could be called every play.

They got to you too, Bob? Awww, man. I don't believe in anything anymore! Can the concaving of society be far behind? Oh, woe. Woe unto you, inhabitants of CowboysZone and Earth itself.

It's the rip move. He uses it a lot. There's an exception in the holding rule that says holding won't be called if you do it and put the OL in a position that's normally holding. The holding call he got today was when he did not use the rip move. Don't think it's coincidence.

This…apparently the OL can continue to hold their block on a rip move. Looks like a hood every time but technically it is not.
