How can you let Wade finish off this season?

I know it is not going to happen, but I don't know how you can let Wade finish off this season. You ought to bring someone in to start building toughness today because this group will quit if Wade lets them and continues to do the things he is doing like praising their "effort"

That statement right there should make Jerry get rid of him. Anybody can see they quit!

Cowher would be my first choice but I don't think he is coming here. Gruden would be #2 I think at this point.

Wade should have never come back from Philly. That just allowed the culture of soft entitlement to breed. Now you have to clean the whole organization again, just like Campo years V2.

Cowher is my first choice as well; however, I doubt he would be willing to step into this mess halfway through the season. I propose the Cowboys fire Wade today, and promote Garrett. He has the remainder of the season to prove he can make the team respond to and play for him. In all likelihood, he probably won't be able to. And when he fails, Jerry can then hire Cowher in the offseason.

The best thing for Jerry to do is fire Wade and promote from within and name an interim head coach. Once he names an interim he can start putting out feelers and evaluate who is or isn't interested in having a formal interview at the conclusion of the season. The main thing that needs to be done ASAP is too fire that Son of a Bum though.

Yes you can. Its called effort and toughness. You don't have to win but you can see a change in mental makeup of a team. This is the time to see if the guy can lead or not.

I know there are a lot of reasons not to change a coach mid-season, but one significant benefit of doing so would be to begin changing the culture of the team. That takes time, and I'd rather it begin now than wait.

I'm pretty sure I've read where this season is basically sold out. Now whether the fans sell those tickets remains to be seen. We have no home field advantage anyway. They can't win at home. As badly as they've played this year they play better on the road for some strange reason.

Watching on TV the boos were very noticeable last night.

I agree.

And if you go with the coach who commands Jerry's respect, there's a good chance that 1) the game has passed that coach by (e.g., Parcells, Gibbs, etc.) and 2) Jerry will continue to meddle anyway.

The question of who should be the next coach may not have a correct answer, other than "Jerry, sell the team."

I'm benching Marc Colombo and giving Sam Young a 10 week try out for the 2011 right tackle job. I'm benching Gurode and his reportedly degenerate knee and giving Costa an 10 game job interview for the 2011 starting center position. I'm benching Brookings for Sean Lee. The more of these young guys that step up to the plate and prove themselves, the less resources you have to move there. These are things that need to be done, that Wade is absolutely not going to do.

That and the fact that for every Sean Payton you have 15 Marty Morningwegs and Scott Linehans. And for every Mike Tomlin (who is more a product of the Steelers organization than a great HC) you have 15 Rod Marinellis and Jim Hasletts.

Mainly when people say they want a "young guy with something to prove" they want some unknown guy who hasn't been around long enough, proven enough or fought in enough wars to have any blemishes on his resume.

In fairness, I don't think Jerry is going to let this happen anyway with an interim coach, especially since I'm assuming he hands the keys to RJ.

I don't think a Gruden comes in mid season, and only someone like him will have the skins to make Jerry go into evaluation mode.

Jerry's still got tickets and extra Brooking jerseys he needs to sell.
