How can you let Wade finish off this season?

I would make the change now, not because of some "culture of the team" or any such sentimental claptrap, but because Wade's #1 priority will be to salvage his job/reptuation by trying to finish with the best record possible at the end of the year, while the organization's #1 priority should be to evaluate their players and get a grip on exactly what we have, what we have to work with heading into the offseason and what absolutely needs to be addressed.

I'm benching Marc Colombo and giving Sam Young a 10 week try out for the 2011 right tackle job. I'm benching Gurode and his reportedly degenerate knee and giving Costa an 10 game job interview for the 2011 starting center position. I'm benching Brookings for Sean Lee. The more of these young guys that step up to the plate and prove themselves, the less resources you have to move there. These are things that need to be done, that Wade is absolutely not going to do.

Before we bench Colombo, does anybody know if Young is healthy yet? Even if he is, is he in football shape to handle the starting RT job? In other words, he is better then Colombo who I agree is essentially finished as a starter. Anyway, if Young is healthy and ready to play, then I guess we got little choice.

We must add at least 2 new starters on our OL, both on the right side. We've also got to decide whether Holland could adequately replace LG Kosier & and whose Gurode's successor? In otherwords, essentially we need add at least 3 new starters either through the draft or a combination of draft/FA.

I agree with this, and would also like to see the rookie safeties play more. It is imipossible for them to do worse than what we currently have.

Also, time for Free Reign to start a year long world tour! Maybe they'll be better rock stars than OLinemen!

Absolutely true...Dallas needs to fire Wade know and Garret needs to get his audition now. There are alot of young players that we need to see play.

That and the fact that for every Sean Payton you have 15 Marty Morningwegs and Scott Linehans. And for every Mike Tomlin (who is more a product of the Steelers organization than a great HC) you have 15 Rod Marinellis and Jim Hasletts.

Mainly when people say they want a "young guy with something to prove" they want some unknown guy who hasn't been around long enough, proven enough or fought in enough wars to have any blemishes on his resume.

I totally agree with the reasons you listed, but calling team culture "sentimental claptrap" is naive. Sure it's somewhat abstract, nor is it a guarantor of success, but it's hardly sentimental. It's as practical, fundamental, and necessary as it gets in football. Things like focus, will, and cohesion, might not do it for you, but try better practices, team preparation, overall team attitude and individual accountability.

There are some very practical reasons to make a coaching change now, a couple of which you mentioned, but if you think the culture of this team hasn't played a role in its demise, I don't know what to tell you.

Along with a lot of other things, it's badly in need of an overhaul.

It's as practical, fundamental, and necessary as it gets in football. Things like focus, will, and cohesion, might not do it for you, but try better practices, team preparation, overall team attitude and individual accountability.

Along with a lot of other things, it's badly in need of an overhaul.

It's been a problem, but some temporary coach hired in Week 8 of the season isn't going to change the last 4 years. And no head coach worth his salt is going to take the job in mid-season. It's considered bad form in the coaching community to take another man's job in midseason. Everyone knew the Skins were going to hire Shannahan, but he didn't take Zorn's job until after the season.

top head coaches want to strart fresh in offseason

and i dont want a rethread head coach, i want a head coach on up and coming, (example tomlin with steelers) or rex ryan, a coach with fire in his belly for his first super bowl

100 percent right. I'm not sure why people think the Cowboys can fire Wade and go out in get Gruden in the middle of the season, like he is just going to quit his job on MNF and come to a 1 - 5 team, and not have any playoffs to coach his team too. If you want a top-notch head coach, you have to wait until the end of the season anyway.

By firing him now, you have less of a chance to pick not just a better head coach, but more importantly the assistants.

Heck, you can't get any assistants right now... They're in the middle of the season.
