I need someone that breaks down film on a regular basis explain to me how 7 guys cannot cover 3? This is not a complaint...I am very curious as to what happens. I actually find it fascinating and wonder out loud how many other teams have this issue. And what the teams that don't have this issue do differently

Numerically you're inevitably going to have 2 on 1, and receivers can easily split zones in that circumstance, or simply beat the defenders. It's not uncommon.

I agree, the biggest advantage WRs have over DBs is that they know where they are going and DBs have to react to whatever the WRs do.

No matter how many receivers or how many defenders there are, there are ALWAYS openings in zone coverage.

And don't forget that if it's seven-on-three (which almost never happens anyway) and you blanket the three, you can bet at least one of the two guys who stayed in to block will be leaking out for a dumpoff pass.

Because the offensive players (in this case the WRs) KNOW the play and patterns.

Much harder to react as a defenders has to do.

Ever heard of Zone Coverage? Ever heard of seams? Ever heard of the West Coast Offense? Know what its designed to do? Know how most offenses copy that in some form or fashion? Ever heard of Bob Hayes? Zones were created to negate his speed.

Yeah, Boy George sang about him. The Comma Chameleon. Or something like that. Not a fan.

what i was going to say - there's more to watch out for than 3 wr's. even then those 3 wr's can do a lot of different things.

The quote you chose for this comment was punctuated by question marks (?) therefore it does not require the use of 'the comma'.

Just thought i mention that.

I was simply suggesting he use commas instead of breaking a possible 1 sentence up into 3 sentences.

Was just messing around anyway... as the Boy George and Buttlerfly posts should have gave that away :p:

Only 3 in position is rare nowadays. You also have to watch for the eligible receivers who are supposedly in to block, but who can break out and slip into the seams. If you have 5 on the OL, the QB makes 6, the 3 receivers you ask about make 9, that means there are still 2 other potential receivers that have to be accounted for somehow as well.

If football were easy it would be dull.

I don't blame you though... there are some grammar ***** around here lurking.

I will never comment on spelling or grammar unless I am just poking fun, I screw up entirely way too much myself.
