How Dak's Mobility Now Compares?

Why would they tell not to run?
He's gotta run sometime...
True but Dak's play has changed and the play calling has changed. I remember designed runs being called for Dak. I also remember read options being ran for Dak or Zeke. But now Dak always try to extend the play instead of taking off. Even when he has open field in front of him, he'll still throw it.

Below average, if he doesn’t find a way to bring this back into his arsenal, he’ll struggle and continue to do so. Anyone that ever thought he was above average truly doesn’t understand mobility, his body is the opposite of what is needed for mobility. His injury put him in the comparable area of older McNabb when with Washington Deadskins category. He was only 4.8 at combine so on the slower side to begin with, noted to have heavy feet, tough to bring down if he can have wide open are to run to.

Dak’s mobility clearly isn’t the same since the ankle injury in 2020. Looks like he’s trotting when he runs. I would be surprised if he can break 5.0 in the 40. He was never real fast but he looks like he’s lost at least a step or two. Cooper Rush took off a few games ago and looked faster than Dak. He doesn’t run as much as he used to and he clearly doesn’t run as well anymore. He looks apprehensive when he runs like he’s looking just to get down. His mobility has been part of his regression.

Dak scored 18 rushing TDs his first three seasons and has only scored 7 rushing TDs the past four seasons. He was deadly using his legs in the redzone those first three seasons. He used to remind me of Donovan McNabb when he took off. There was more fluidity to the way he ran and he was hard to bring down. That part of his game is clearly not the same anymore. The ankle injury has changed the way he plays and runs. It’s disappointing.

Little known fact ...Dak had more rushing yards in one season than Tony Pollard had his entire college career.

Joe Burrow had 118 yards rushing last year.

Dak had 148 trying not to run.

You think Dak can beat Burrow in a 40 yards foot race? Maybe Burrow did not need to run 118 yards but maybe if he needed he would put up more than 148? But then again, asking you you would bet Dak could out run Superman!

Probably not.

Though 51 sacks would suggest he should have run a lot more than he did.

He had 51 sacks last year? How many this year? Asking because I really don't know.

I was wondering about something this evening. Given Dak's injury history, and the nature of his strong, but less-than-nimble physique...how would he be currently be classified in his mobility?

BTW...for anyone unclear about my stance...I'm a Dak fan, no hater.

I made my own category groupings. Feel free to challenge my views--they aren't precious.

Using your chart, I'd say middle of the road.

Dak's mobility is not an issue. His ability to move in the pocket is. Being able to sense where to slide to in the pocket, right , left, step up is far more important for a QB than being able to run a 4.4 40. Brady and Rodgers are both very good, Romo was very good at it. Dak just doesn't have a good feel or pocket awareness. His mobility to get outside the pocket is as good as anyone. He can run just fine when he needs/wants to. I would like to see him move around in the pocket better and help his OL out.

If that was the case, he would have been sacked much more with the way our OL has been past few years. He is on the bottom of the list when it comes to getting sacked for starting QBs. Last year Dak's sack percentage was 4.8% which ranked 28th, Rogers at 5.3% which was ranked 23nd and Brady's was 3% ranked 33rd.

Just think what it would be if he was actually good at it.

Dak has no mobility left in him. Mostly from his severe injury to his ankle and then calf....and the rest is mental. He avoids running at all costs, and will lay down when the pressure is on him. Also another reason why he throws into triple or double coverage at times because he just wants to get rid of the ball rather than run out of the pocket to create a receiver to get open.
If his primary receiver is not open, he is screwed.

Below average is generous, but fine with me. Just a tad above Brady.
