Aikman was the most overrated Cowboy QB ever. He rode Emmitt and Irvin all the way to the HOF. Once he lost Irvin, he was done.
Good post robo!Just some info here:
The salary cap began in 1994... just after Dallas had won back to back SBs.
Many conspiracy theorists say it was meant to specifically dismantle the mighty Cowboys.
As Prime mentioned, there was a large gap between elite teams and the rest of the league.
And as Short said, the NFC Championship was the best game each year.
SF stole from Dallas to win SB in '94. Dallas returned to win it all in '95.
I can remember John Madden saying they were the worst 12-3 team he'd seen
at the start of Monday Night Football but SF had lost on Sunday and suddenly
home field was up for grabs. Dallas torched Arizona that night and secured home
field. SF never recovered, losing to GB. What happened next? Well, I'll just say this,
Brett Favre never won a game in Texas Stadium. (Look it up, young people... lol)
That final SB was won in spite of coaching. The players held together all season.
The leader... was Troy Aikman..... Royalty. Royalty, indeed.
It's not that crazy, Bernie Kozar, Steve Buerlein. All his injury replacements won to.
Amen. There wouldn't have been a last minute drive to start with. It would have been over in the 1st half. The team won 3 Super Bowls with Aikman at QB, if that's what you mean.
He played on a team with a suffocating defense, dominating offense and, great coaching.
Green bay and Aaron Rodgers (or anyone else) was not going to drive the ball the length of the field in 80 seconds on that team. He gets sacked or intercepted within the first play or two...no way Green Bay's oline holds them back.
Aikman was the most overrated Cowboy QB ever. He rode Emmitt and Irvin all the way to the HOF. Once he lost Irvin, he was done.
Sir Jerry put together a great offensive unit that will be wasted on garbage defensive teams. This is absolutely true..but it doesn't change the fact that even if we had won this game..the defense is not good enough..rod needs to be relieved of his duties asap
Boy don't win a SB in Dallas as a QB you get no respect.....dont understand the Aikman hate at all.
If you want to play the IF game, if we had the defensive talent of the 90s team we would have won.Easy Answer:
He has a brain and used it in addition to his talent and arm.
Throughout the last drive, what was he saying as an announcer?
DO NOT GIVE THE BALL BACK TO AARON RODGERS!!
This team deserved to lose because they are STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!
Anyone who thinks we should have just scored a TD with 90 seconds left and relied on our defense (or any defense) to stop Rodgers is simply in denial also.
It's not just fun to yell coaching...it alone has cost us 2 games this year. Horrible situational play calls and outdated schemes. We have more talent than our record shows. Talent is a reason for losing. Coaching should never be.I know it's fun to yell COACHING here but if you think that's the only thing missing with this year's defense I think you're kidding yourself. There are some talent and experience gaps, but they're also made worse by playing a dated scheme (aka, coaching).
He had a strong arm and was extremely accurate, he was also a leader and expected nothing but the best. I think his record for accuracy at the QB challenge still stands.
All I can think of is some have been use to mediocrity so long they forgot what a Champion really looks like.Boy don't win a SB in Dallas as a QB you get no respect.....dont understand the Aikman hate at all.
Romo was brilliant too, as you can tell from his color commentary nowadays. But his team wasn't good enough so he didn't win anything, because - get this - football's a team sport.
