How did Gallup drop that TD in endzone?

Granted, I've only watched it a few times, but it didn't seem to change his momentum or turn him a bit.
If you look closely Gallup tries to elevate at the last instant before the ball arrives. Like I said I think the tug screwed up his timing. He probably felt himself starting to go down and felt like he needed to jump to reach the ball but he obviously misjudged it given where the ball hit him. The bottom line is pass interference doesn't have to be tackling the receiver to the ground. Anything that impedes his progress or ability to make the catch is interference. Period. The only exception being incidental contact made while the DB is trying to make a play on the ball. Unless the ball was on a trajectory to hit Gallup in his butt there is no way that exception could apply to the tug on his shirt.

Some were. He had 2 official drops in the game and has 3 for the season. Ferguson has almost identical targets and 3 drops also. The big difference is a TE usually gets balls that are easier to catch. But he’s young and may improve in time. Gallup has always been a guy that’s gonna drop at around a 10% rate. He has been that long enough that it’s not likely to change
Yeah but makes some amazing sideline catches that seem impossible. Especially to catch in bounds..

He was grabbed by the jersey allowing the defender to get in front of him. But it wasn’t called. He has 3 drops on the season on 32 targets. Gallup has always had above avg drop numbers and some amazing big plays. After as long as he’s been in the league that’s just who he is. His second year I believe it was he had 11 drops. He’s a guy that can make some really amazing catches but he’s also a guy that’s gonna have about a 10% drop rate
Yeah and week before he was tackled. They call PI then pick the flag up. Was seriously terrible officiating..

I thought I remembered a grab. He was clearly affected on the play, but he definitely should have made the catch. Receivers have to overcome bumps, grabs, hands in their faces, etc., all the time. Comes with the territory.

Makes me wonder if those injuries are in the back of his mind and it's throwing him off.

I just watched the play again. It really didn't look like it affected his route a bit. At most, it distracted him and threw off his concentration, but that shouldn't happen. I like the guy a lot, and hope he gets it back together, but he has been disappointing at times.

Distracted is probably the better word.

he should have caught that. I’ve been so disappointed in Gallup. Gallup shouldn’t have been extended. he was basically our 4th option behind Amari, Ceedee, zeke, schultz … cmon why is dallas signing this dude?

we invested in ceedee you had amari already, writing was on the wall but we do dumb stuff like this all the time and sign a 3rd string wideout.

let tolbert play… but cowboys always follow the money.

As used, Gallup has never been a high completion to passes thrown receiver. Take that into the playoffs.

Seriously...how much longer are some of y'all gonna keep asking and hoping for that? Reminds me of those who keep stating that Dak needs to be more accurate. :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
Dak vs Chargers:

21 of 30, 70% completions, 272 passing yards, 9.1 y/a, 1 passing TD, 1 rushing TD, 5 QB sacks, 109.3 passer rating.

Dak keeps proving you wrong with his accuracy, so your argument absolutely holds no water.

Expecting the trajectory of the ball to be changed by the defender and it’s not can be just as disruptive as not expecting it to change and it does. Both require last second adjustments. Hope that makes sense.

which one?

The first one the ball was over his head. He may have jumped a fraction of a second too early, but the ball was maybe 6 inches too high.

The 3rd one was right in his arms. But I watched this play a few times and the camera cut away too soon to pick it up completely but it looked to me like Gallup was looking for a flag after the play. The replay of the game shows that the defender pulled Gallup's jersey just before the pass arrived and I think it distracted Gallup. You can see it did slow him down just a tiny bit but it was enough to cause Gallup to lose concentration. Truthfully, he should have caught it regardless but the refs missed a PI call there.

There's no doubt but what Gallup needs to return to his former self. Let's hope he overcomes it. Let's quit being unforgiving jackasses.

You should maybe watch the all-22 and you will see that Lamb was probably double upwards of 75% of the time. Normally you would take Gallup in a one on matchup against all but the best corners in the league. Unfortunately he's clearly not all the way back to being the Michael Gallup we were hoping for. And he may never get back to that.. which would be sad for him and suck for the team and fans.

... I was reminded of it, watching Sounds of the Sidelines.

I mean, Dak could not place that ball any better. It was so crucial in the game.

Sure hope, he picks things up.
As much grief as I give Dak, Gallup is worse.
He shouldn't be a Cowboy. He causes interceptions because he won't fight for the ball and lets defenders jump in.
