How do we fix this?

Is it too soon for this thread? Maybe, but I need a dose of optimism because half of CZ seems ready to leap off the closest ledge.

I once worked for a great CEO who used to always tell me: don’t come into my office with a problem unless you have a solution.

Hint: “Fire Garrett” doesn’t fix it. “Fire Garret and hire ...” might.

We have four more games left in this season and an entire off-season ahead, one that’s going to be tedious for us all. Would love to hear exactly what y’all would do. And you can take getting rid of Jerry Jones off your list, because that’s been on the wish list of most Cowboys fans since 1989 and it isn’t happening.

It looks like you just walked into my office with a problem and then told me how we can’t fix it.

New coaches and a new GM who has a direction. Anything else is really window dressing. This franchise has been swimming in the ocean of mediocrity of 20 years no matter who the coach was. The one constant is Jerry. He's as toxic as they come but we all know he'd have to die before giving up his GM duties. Which in turn makes him a bad owner because he does not hold his GM (himself) accountable. Nor does he hold his coaching staff accountable for how bad they are unless the stars align for a perfect season.

We need to buckle up and get used to it.

Here is my proposal:

1. Fire Jason Garrett and bring Jon Gruden out of retirement. He had Dak in his Gruden camp and clearly has a connection with him.

2. This article is old, but this is the list of FAs we’re set to lose in the off-season: http://www.espn.com/blog/dallas-cow...ent-class-might-not-have-staying-power-either

The only FA on this list we’ll probably resign is DLaw, who has been a bright spot in an otherwise forgettable season

3. This is the 2018 FA class - though many of these will not hit the market when FA begins. http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/252204/the-nfls-top-free-agents-for-2018

We are entering the 2018 off-season with all of the same problems that we had entering the 2017 off-season on defense, but now with new problems on the offensive line. Witten is a year older and there’s no viable option to replace him at TE. The good news is that this is the first off-season where we’ll apparently have some cash to spend.

- Jimmy Graham could be a game-changer at TE if we want to fork out the cash on offense.
- There won’t be any gems at LB in the free agency market - and no “war daddy” players either. That means we’ll have to rely on the draft.

4. As it stands now, we’ll be drafting about 15. We won’t have a 5th round pick, but we will likely get 4 compensation picks and they should be decent.

I don’t follow college football but I’d think that we have to come away with defensive line, linebacker and offensive line in the draft.

As a football fan and a Cowboys fan, you're not going to like this...But.

As Jerry has showed us his "tell" a while ago he talked about how everything's good because the Cowboys are still relevant. So with that info:

1. Anytime you see Cowboys gear, spend money on something else
2. Anytime the Cowboys are on (at least while they're bad) watch another game
3. Don't go to games.

Sucks and it's almost impossible, but you have to hit Jerry where it hurts. Because he's NOT leaving and he'll have to get hauled out of his owners box in a casket.

If we don't change the head coach, there is no sense in even wasting any more time on the subject. He's a toolbox.

Fair enough but change him for who? The names available aren’t a secret. Who would you trust to turn this around?

Jerry gives me 10 billion.

I buy the Patriots.

I trade the Pats coaching staff plus Brady and other players to the Cowboys.

Every year I trade all Pats picks to the Cowboys for a Bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue until the NFL eventually forces me to sell the team.

Jerry loses the 10 billion but after the Cowboys win 5 Super Bowls the Cownoys are valued at 50M, up from 4B in 2017.

I pocket about 1 billion in the process and Giselle keeps calling me but I turn her down.

Maybe we should give this guy a chance? He's done it before. I saw it on the TV.
