How far off are we?
I don't think we could ever be like the Chiefs because Mahomes is really that whole team. He's the best player in the NFL right now.
What we can replicate from the Chiefs is an offense that creates more explosive plays.
2 problems...
Dak is not an explosive big play QB.
Zeke was not an explosive RB at all this past season.
Defensively on paper I don't see us too far from the 9ers but when it plays out on the field our defense is nowhere near theirs.
I like our front 7 with Quinn. We need some help at DT.
Byron would be a big loss IMO. Especially with this coordinator.
maybe unfair to compare to the Chiefs - they are unique in what they are and what they do. -and they constantly push the ball at you
thru entire field and especially with over top deep shots and they scheme their speed so very well- they are not unbeatable though.
Niners are more horizonal - they attack east-west with out routes, slants, jet sweeps, and an assortment of misdirection in both pass game and run game i love their trap run game - its' typical Shanahan style and RB friendly
and i think we stand a chance to mimic the Niners than we could ever think of with the Chiefs.
- if Jimmy Grappalo can generate and lead his team to Superbowl - thus Dak and Cowboys could eventually do the same.
IF - we prove we are a very capable - competent coaching staff and management - and we rebuild this defense to the equal of Niners
- if you ask jimmy G to straight drop back and beat you like that - then you stand a better chance
when he can use run game to use play action passes - he is more of a threat against you-
- i am wanting to get our zeke-pollard run game back as well - as use our RBs in pass game as Niners do, so that helps dak become a much better threat against defenses on play action passes.
- where Niners really have us is at WR and TE - rookie WR Debo Samuel is bringing it every week and growing stronger with experience - he can make plays in pass game and in his run -plays (ala jet sweeps) he is growing into a promising looking Lead No.1 WR
that's an area i'm starting to doubt we have in Cooper.
- also at TE - we have nothing that resembles George Little as he was a force in pass game and in line blocking. Jarwin has been more of a spot play guy and not one teams gotta scheme for.
